Hi to all! I have been trolling the site for awhile and using it to make educated LD purchases. I figured I might as well join the forum and start logging my collection. Very cool place... I hope to be a member for as long as I can keep buying LDs and backup players.

In case you care, I am into Elite Entertainment releases, Japanese releases of Horror Films and criterion LDs. I have a DVL-909 that I do most of my watching on... a CLD-53 NIB that I picked up for a song and a DVL-90 that is used but NM and in the original box, stashed for a rainy day. I got into LDs when I was a kid thanks to my home theater enthusiast of a father and really starting collecting in the late 90's when he went DVD and gave me all of his LDs and the DVL-90. I am also very into DVD's, Blurays and occasionally pickup the odd VHS.

In case you care to know any more weird facts about me, I am married, have a kid, and am an officer in the Army. I also collect comic books, nike air max shoes, oakley sunglasses and horror movie memorabilia. I am a Honda enthusiast with a fetish for the CRX and an Apple enthusiast as well.

good to hear from you, i got into LDs from my father also, we never had a home theatre but now i sort of have one.
i have a projector with a portable screen on a tripod so i can put it away.
hope you have fun here on the forum.

I have just read your introduction,

In case you care...........Yes I do and appreciate people come what may sir.

It was a Pleasure to read and thank you for sharing your enthusiasm and experiences.

You are amongst friends here, and yes you may have read the odd dispute between members at times, but that's because we are all on the P.C. and not in front of each other.

When writing emails / post's such as this on this and other forums, there is always a lack of full perspective in conveying each persons views, comments ect.

I try my utmost to convey what I write with extra care, due to the fact that I am not in front of the person that I am corresponding with. . . . . .
There is always a lack of human clarity when writing and, I think I can speak for most of us here when I express that we all try our best.

I used to be a Honda enthusiast and once imported a new and fully dressed GL-1500 SE into the UK, to be honest this was the best handling Motorcycle that I had ever owned.

Subjects non related are many and varied so please feel free to mention at any time.
There is much going on in your field of employment Friend, and a number of matters ''the powers that be'' wouldn't like the masses to know about However, a number of us do, so be reassured as I for one know the changes and pressures..............So please draw comfort in knowing that you are not alone.

Good to have you with us and shall look forward to corresponding at some stage.

Hey guys, thank you both for the replies. I love that this forum is alive and well. Everyone seems to be very friendly. I am currently trying to complete my criterion LD collection, so you may see me ask some questions about that stuff in the near future.

Let me take this opportunity to thank you for your service to our nation. :thumbup: It's not often enough that you folks get to hear any appreciation for what you do to keep this country safe. :clap: It sounds like you have a lot of widely varied interests, which is certainly a good thing. Just check you out... not bad at all. I personally think that anyone who says they collect LDs has to have the Star Wars Definitive Collection, so you pass that test, brother. You need some Criterion Collection stuff, though! Actually you don't. Nevermind. More for us weirdos. Thanks for saying hi! Happy Hunting.
