Thought Id introduce myself. Im not particularly wealthy, but I like piddling around with vintage A/V gear. I just loaded up on VCRs. Now onto LD. Ive decided to follow the herd to the Pio D703/704 and Panny LX900/600. I love buying equipment that sold new for thousands of dollars for peanuts! Any recommendations for calibration discs and also movie pressings that really show off the format? |

Several titles that pop into mind to blow your sox off regarding LD playback - - SCREAMERS - Japanese versions(there are two) either one is prime. - StarShip Troopers - US or Japanese pressings have epic sound / Visual beauty.... - Phantom Menace - Late release Japanese Import shows off the wonder and glory of LD Technology.... I have wide ranging tastes in film. Plus I love music concerts. I love Sci Fi and Fantasy. Period historical dramas. Musicals. Horror. Classics. Is CAV the way to go....less disc changing with CLV seems VERY appealing. |

Both features have their pros and cons however the added functions in cav mode do strike a chord in my heart. Also check out - - "Contact" either US or Japanese versions - "Braveheart" US or Japanese versions Sound and Video standouts ..... also in my opinion.... |
