Just read your introduction,
Your Film professor friend is interesting, and I must agree about throwing Laserdisc's away that's a no no!
All thou once when I purchased around 200 titles+ and a Player from a local seller I did break up and bin around three titles, as they were titles that I detested but the rest were all ok.
I have purchased Laserdisc's from sellers in the US Europe & Japan on many occasions.
I have also Purchased many items of Hardware from the US, Europe and will do so from Japan at some point.
I may be interested in purchasing some titles that you may want to sell especially if they are new sealed (I no the risk of purchasing new sealed titles because of possible laser rot issues.) but if the prices are reasonable then that's ok.
