I’m pretty new to laserdiscs. About 3 months now. I’d wanted one for a while but I’m tight for space having a huge number of Apple II, Apple III and old Mac computers. Finally took the plunge and picked up a CLD-D505. Of course there’s not many things more useless than a laserdisc player if you don’t own a single laserdisc or CD. So I burned a music CD just to see if it worked. Then about a week later I picked up my first laserdisc. Right now I’m up to about 110 movies. Most of the time I’m quite happy with the video quality. I have wondered though if a higher end player would make a difference at those odd times. |

I'm also in Vancouver. Have you been hitting up Craigslist or just online sales? |

Just Craigslist and flea market. Haven't bought anything online in over 10 years. Been meaning to take a look at the larger Sally Ann. Haven't been there in years but they had a large selection of records. Maybe there's LDs in with them. There's a guy in New West that has a number of disks to sell or trade. I have a few that I'll never watch that I might see about trading |

Yes, that's the one. Any suggestions on other places to look? |

the player is an alright one. i have a CLD-D503 in my work room with a 13" TV and enjoy it. there are better players and the image will be better, but it all depends on what TV and setup you are using. and will you notice the subtle differences?? i can notice if i A-B players on a single TV but it will all depend also on how much you want to spend. ________________________________ the rein-o official signature: |

I'm using a 46" Sony TV but I do have some vision problems. Not enough to interfere with everyday things but thing aren't as sharp as they used to be. I'm willing to spend a few dollars on a better player but I'm looking for something local as I've had poor luck with shipping. |

Welcome - I've only been around a few weeks, but it seems to be a fun community. |
