Hello everyone! New to the LD game, was looking for an old 'clicky' keyboard at my Salvation Army, but I saw an LD player in as is condition and picked it up for $15!

I don't know much about LDs, it only became something of interest due to another posting their old tech in a forum late last year.
Anyways, I got it, bought 8 LDs and hope the machine works.
I got a Pioneer CLD-M90, supposidly it has dual play but I can't figure it out.
One of the motors seem to be in bad condition, doesn't let the LD close properly to play, but a little tug when the machine is open and it works! 8-)
Spins fine, video doesn't look too bad but I wish it had an S-Video input for some clarity.
Ah well, I'm happy it worked.

Watched half of Cleopatra that night, next is Star Wars, then Raging Bull, The Professional and so on...

I'll spend my next two months lurking and reading alot of this forum.
Hello from Southern California USA!!!

Congratulations, $15 is a very good deal. At a guess the problem with opening and closing may be a loose belt rather than the motor itself, belts are a very common cause of problems. Found some pictures of the M90 on the UK laserdisc archive, I envy you that five-disc autochanger. At a guess the dual play part means it'll play CDs as well as laserdiscs. It won't play DVDs, of course, and doesn't appear to be a double-sided player, or able to play PAL discs as well as NTSC.

Thanks for your input!!
I'll fix belt when I get a spare LD player, but for now I'll deal with the small problem.

Afaik this unit is single side only. It has a 5 disc cd carousel. It is more like multi disc cd player with added basic ld playback. I got one along with a ld lot a couple years back. I gave it to a friend. I remember it was a tad under cld-503 we were comparing to.
