Hello everyone. Just joined the forum. I am a laserdisc vetran who has been collecting discs since the late 1990's. My collection is roughly at 500 discs and counting. I don't know the total and have been cataloging a lot of what I have. I am hoping to meet a few of you out there that have been collecting for a while and add what I can to the forum.

My main LD players are.

CLD-97
EAD TheaterVision
CLD-D501

Coupled with:
Sony DA80ES reciever
JVC DLA-HD2K 1080p projector (with matching JVC Faroudja upscaler basically a DVP-1080)
RCA DRC8335 VCR/DVD combo (for comb filter)

Component hook up etc depends on which player I am using, and the source material.

Also, one item I don't can't list is that I have dozens of LDs from AMC Theaters that were used to play trailers, but that is something I expect won't make it to the catalogs here.

Welcome to the forum and database.

From your equipment list I can tell you are already at the optimum operating point as far as LD picture goes. 500 title library is a very respectable one too.

We here discuss how we can improve our LD viewing and collecting. I for instance often come out and say LD picture is subpar comparing to dvd and anything came after it so don't stress too much, there are many fun titles/exclusives and some with maybe nostalgic value. Some disagrees but its fine.

As I said there are a lot of fun titles due to nice cover art, packaging, perhaps different version of the film etc.. I am sure you already know there is a ton of super expensive titles out there too.

We get a lot of new to LD folks here, its nice to have a ld veteran once in a while too. Welcome again.

Hello ffrolvaag,

Welcome to the forum Friend and neighbor

I wrote a long reply and then lost it so shall keep this one small.

I have been into the laserdisc format sinse beginning the AV pastime around the end of March 1998.
I invested heavily into the Laserdisc Fomat at the time, due to knowing that DVD and other formats were on and were being discussed at the time...........I knew the Laserdisc format for me personally was a keeper.

Thank you for sharing a little about yourself and shall look forward to corresponding with you at some stage sir

Sincere Regards

  :D
