I'm Stephen. I'm a retired (but looking for work) Federal telecommunications officer living in Pensacola, FL, USA. I was overseas most of my career and first got into laserdiscs in 1982, during my first permanent overseas assignment in Hong Kong. I was a stickler for audio quality and at the time LDs offered the best available. My first player was an LD-1100. It had a tracking problem so Pioneer replaced it free with a PR-8210. That one was replaced in the late '80's by an LD-850D. I bought a DVL-919 in 2010. I still have the latter two in two different home theater systems. From 1982 to 2004 I amassed a collection of over 300 titles because, being overseas most of that time, it was hard to get movies or cartoons for the family.
Recently started seeing LDs in local flea markets and thrift stores and pick them up unless it's some god-awful thing like "Inside the WWF," or some such garbage. Found also I ended up over the years with some rather scarce titles in my collection. We watch them occasionally, especially the cartoon collections.
