Nice starter players would be any of the units that Pioneer used to sell to the school systems ... CLD 2400, 2600 or 2800.
I own all three and am very pleased with these units. They often show up in school auctions. Good luck with your collecting.

Welcome to the forum friend and hope the purchas of your Laserdisc player goes well.

There are a good number of well looked after players out there, so you should be alright getting hold of one in good shape.

Welcome! Getting the player is always the hardest part. My advice would be to start with a good solid but basic Pioneer that doesn't cost too much. If you get on fine with that and you really enjoy the format then go ahead and invest in a higher end player with more bells and whistles.

I became a fan of LD back in 1979 when I got my first player and that player still works today. it is a "LD-838D"
