| Post subject: | What have I gotten myself into? |
Hi guys! I'm Gohan, just thought I'd stop by and say hi. A friend of mine who is hardcore into laserdisc collecting showed me the site when I told him I was looking into getting into laserdiscs. A little background: I have a bunch of internet buds who casually collect laserdiscs, and I always thought it was pretty neat. My only personal experience with them is going to high end AV stores in the "big" cities as a kid and seeing some LD's for sale, my own town was too small to have any shops that sold them, but I thought they were pretty awesome. Fast forward to a few days ago and I was talking with a bud and decided to bite the bullet and get my own setup. I did some research and ended up picking up a Panasonic DVL-700 that came with a pile of movies. Also grabbed some more of my old favorites from here and there, it's hard not to when most of the movies are pretty cheap. I mostly like watching 80's and 90's action movies, and the genre is well represented in this format. I'm looking forward to next week when I actually get my player and hook it up to my PVM. I'm not quite sure what to expect, as I've never actually watched one, but we'll see what happens! |
