| Post subject: | Greetings from Sweden! |
Hello all of you LD fans out there! I am a 26 year old guy from Sweden that first heard of the LD format back in primary school. One day one of my classmates told us that his parents had gotten this (according to him) amazing video player that was far better then VHS and anything else existing at the time. And you also have to remember that Laserdisc in Sweden was even smaller and more rare to own than it was in the US. After that of course, i wanted my family to also get this home theater awesomeness! But i was just told that we unfortunately could not possibly afford it! Then the years went by, and i occasionally used to look at those (expensive) imported US LD's that was available at our local electronics store. And i used to think that one day, when i grew up, i will also get my hands on these.. And eventually around 2011 i got my first LD player, a CLD-D580. Unfortunately it was broken beyond repair when it arrived, due to horribly bad packeting. And then a couple of months later i got a new one, a CLD-D504 witch was also broken for the very same reason And so, now in 2015 i was doing a little early spring cleaning and started to think about however it would actually be possible to repair the second player that seemed to be lightly damaged/repairable. (see my thread in the Technical questions/Repair section) So now i hope that with a little help from you guys i will finally be able to get into this awesome format, that i for so many years wanted to get closer to! And by the way, i also collect records (mostly vinyl) and Super 8 films! |

Welcome to this beautiful place! I only wanted to say that both my CLD-79 and HLD-X9 arrived from both US and JP "broken" and were repaired in a local Pioneer service in Switzerland by expierienced Person. Now they work like new. So, you just send your players to Pioneer service in Sweden (call them first and ask all infos) and if you can pick them up yourself with a car, bicycle extention or a rolley... to maximise a sensitive transport. LD players are sensitive machines and it's a common thing for them that they arrive "broken". That's not the reason not to repair them. |
