Hi everyone! Glad to have found this forum and website!! From '88 to '95 I was an art director/graphic designer working with MGM Home Video. Designed and produced all their laserdisc packaging for new monthly releases which included the multi-page insert on many boxed collections. My favorite series were 'The Best of Looney Tunes' (Vol 1 to 5), The James Bond series, The Busby Berkeley Collection, Tarzan Collection, Charlie Chan, etc. My favorite single title was 2001: A Space Odyssey. It was a great period with 7-10 new MGM laserdisc releases a month at one point. A highlight during that time was visiting the Pioneer Laserdisc pressing plant in Long Beach, CA. Actually saw a metal master being produced which I thought was so 'high tech' at the time... If you have some favorite MGM titles in your collection, let me know! Nice to meet you all!!

Loved that whole George Feltenstein era. ... "Ziegfeld Follies" box set?! Love it. Who cares if it sells? ... Many of my favorite LD covers came from MGM/UA. The WS "Clash of the Titans," "Time Machine," "Merry Widow," "Ninotchka" — gorgeous!

I loved the artwork on The Golden Age of Looney Tunes LDs and The Compleat Tex Avery box set. I also liked the 25th Anniversary Edition of 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Hello. Did you do a beautiful design for the late Goldfinger and Thunderball multidisc boxes?

Pretty cool job you had!

Would you have, by any chance, kept discarded/turned down design ideas that you could share with us to compare with the final choice?
Or it is all restricted/under NDA/out of reach?

I supposed you were working on both VHS and Laserdisc designs, could you tell us what the rectangle & square sizes of the cover were bringing in terms of design contraints?

Yes, I did the design on the Goldfinger and Thunderball multidisc boxes. @Julien, it was always a challenge to develop cover key art that could work for both a square laserdisc cover, and a vertical formatted VHS package cover. Unfortunately do not have any discarded or turned down ideas from the packaging development, but do have many of the original cover art illustrations in my personal archive/collection, some are listed on eBay for sale.

Wow, cool. The MGM stuff is some of the nicest (US released) LD packaging. I love 2001, my favorite is probably Manhattan.

Does anyone know if this "Guest" is still around us here? There were a lots of last Bond - Editions cancelled; I would like to be able to see how those looked like because both Goldfinger & Thunderball boxes were stunning.
