Hey guys, great site here as i took to reading things a few months back.. Live here in NC and spent my childhood collecting comics which lead into vinyl (for the art covers and the music side).. that has continued into my adult life and as much as i liked the laserdisc format i somehow never started to buy them or a player.. but went vhs to dvd.. so as i decided a while back to jump into the format and really collect the stuff i liked.. that being mainly horror related and also 80's rock/metal music.. Also want to get the common movies i love outside of those two areas, things like jaws, rudy, escape form new york and so many more.. here in NC dont seem to have much luck running into them as a whole.. and havnt even bought a player yet as i am lost as to which to buy and on the movie side which to buy as in , widescreen or letterbox, i know to sort of stay away from pan and scan.. player wise i know i want a player with ac-3, two sided flip.. either a pioneer elite type or maybe a japanese model , price will be a big factor there,, or to i learn which will do , maybe a pioneer D704, 97 .. Any help into the format would be great,as to common titles, rare, players, buying a AC3RF Demodulators or buying a receiver with a built in.. still putting together a wantlist on the site so it will be growing as i have just down the music titles i want.. look forward to hearing from everyone and your help. guy |

Allow me to be the first to welcome you as a new LDDB member sir. Glad to read a bit about your collecting this semi recently terminated format. Good hunting for your player, I can speak for the Pioneer DvL - 919 as a middle of the road player. Have a 2008 model that has been my workhorse with a 2002 model I rotate it out with ever six months or so. The worldwide membership here are more then tech savvy and happy to share trouble shooting hurdles about LD and just about any other formats under the sun. So big welcome to the LDDB membership ! |
