Hello there! Just getting back into laserdiscs after a few years away.....had a collection and player (an early Pioneer v2000 for about a decade from 2000, so late to the party even then, lol) I sold the lot in a garage sale a few years back...regretted it since ....especially losing that tank of a player! Anyway, suddenly struck with the desire to get back into it lately, so picked up a few discs and player at a pawn shop (Pioneer CLD-V720, which works well, and beat the other two options they had collecting dust...a Kenwood with a poor picture, and a Magnavox that i didn't bother to look too closely at. Figured, I couldn't go too wrong with a Pioneer, karaoke options aside which I'll never use lol) Enjoying reading through the forum today, which I just joined earlier , lots of interesting stuff! Glad to see that there is still a lot of hardcore fans of this fantastic format. |

Haha, thanks for the welcome! My shelves will never sag at the quick rate I seem to be acquiring some discs, and reacquiring some much missed material, and sets! There's just something about the technology and presentation of Laserdisc that just "feels" a lot more like home theatre to me, despite the digital high-def world we live in now. |

I read you ..... Well stated man. "Feels" is a good way to put it. Friends, family, and co-workers that have ever visited my crib are agog at what a fun experience LaserDisc can be, for instance when I am asked about the background music, I just turn on the television and "VIOLA" ..... Kodak moment ..... Show off the jacket, check out the liner notes, and revel in their reflection in that big area of LD goodness when changing it up ! lol ! I explain its the "mom and pop of Cd and DvD" , they are like "Huh ?" ..... now they know ..... Spawned a few collectors from visits over the years ........ To all the robber barons of LD data out there, your missing out on one fun tangible hobby that just stands the test of time ! at least so far ! ! ! This experiment is not over ....... |
