Finally scored a Panasonic LX-H670 last night from a guy in the next town over. I'm pretty sure the last time I had even seen one in use was while working at Lechmere, a defunct Best Buy type store. I did happen upon a player at a local Salvation Army, but it would have nearly impossible to test without a working TV in store and no discs around. He also gave me a stack of movies, most I really have no sue for, others (Birdy, Raising Arizona) were already personal favorites. Glad to be here and it's refreshing to see the format lives on, in spirit, all these years later. Thanks!

I have that player as one of my main players for the kids to watch laserdiscs. It has been a workhorse. Plays great. Panasonic makes sturdy, quiet players. I have 5 Panasonics. Enjoy

I agree, I have 2 LX-1000s and a LX-900 and I prefer them to all my Pioneers, CLD-703 and a Marantz 520 (CLD-504 clone), except my CLD-95. The 95 is pretty smooth but not nearly as quiet as the Panasonics.

Welcome neighbor!

I am pretty sure 670 is same as 900 but missing video noise reduction and trick play. If my memory serves me, there was thead a few years back discussing these two players.

If you happen to be in natick area, there is a record store called dejavu which usually stocks a nice stack of laserdiscs. There is another record store in cambridge but I forgot its name. I am moving in 4 months, I am going to have a lot of give away LDs end of May as well.

I have 2 LX-1000s, a LX-900, A LX-670 and LX-680 as well as a Pioneer CLD-R7G, Pioneer CLD-59, CLD-D505 and a CLD-D406 and really love the Panasonics for playing stuff. Animation especially pops on newer HDTVs. I only wish more of them had AC-3. The LX-1000 is a real sturdy player. I only hate how the drop down front gets stuck on the disc's return. You have to manually close it for disc to play. Do yours suffer from same issue?

One does and one does not. Unfortunately the one that does is the player that had all of the crosstalk fixes and an AC-3 mod. It's still my favorite player.

That's a shame. I wonder why they do it? I noticed when I pick up one side of the player a slight bit, the drawer closes. I have shimmed up one side and it works for a while and then goes back to not closing. Really strange. Doesn't bother me too much. How did you fix the crosstalk on the lx-1000?

Not a big deal, the performance and AC-3 more than make up for the slight inconvenience. I have also experimented with loosening certain screws on the case with some success but it was always inconsistent. The main reason I purchased this LX-1000 was that the previous owner had had all of the service bulletins performed regarding crosstalk by a technician, plus the AC-3 mod, so this particular machine is about as good as a LX-1000 can get.
