Hi tigura,

I can't be absolutely certain about this disc, because I don't own a copy of it, but I suspect I know what it is. Although I can't see all of the finer details in the pictures you posted, I believe that it may be the PAL release from the Netherlands of the 1980 film "Virus". This is certainly the correct film, but there is no cover photo of it on the site, which would account for your difficulty in matching the disc you have to the listing page. The release is #LDDB=36460, and the reference number is VLP2060E. Check your copy of this disc to see if that reference number appears anywhere on the jacket or disc labels. The name of the publisher, "Videoscreen", listed on the page for that release does appear in the photo you provided of the front of the jacket, so I am reasonably sure that is what you have. I am by no means an authority on PAL discs, as I don't own any of them, so I couldn't venture a guess as to the value of this disc. Its' value to me would be zero, as I don't have a PAL player, but I'm sure there is someone here who would love to own it. If this Netherlands release is in fact the one you have, it is probably a fairly rare disc. Only one member here has it registered in their collection, but the good news is one member has it on their wishlist! Assuming the disc is in good condition, this person may be a potential buyer for you! I, on the other hand, have a Taiwanese release of this film in my collection, and I am very happy with it. I have owned it for about 10 years, and it is the only copy I have seen of this very rare disc. Welcome to the forum, and good luck selling your discs in your new shop here. You are absolutely in the right place, among friends and like-minded collectors, who will hopefully give good homes to many of your discs in the near future! It's good to have you on board with us!

Best Regards,
David

Very cool film, saw the uncut version on a roku channel once but they changed it to the cut version.

As for finding the person, good luck with that.
You need to add it to a shop and then that person will get an email.
I've never had luck with that.

Hi tigura,

Well, this is indeed an interesting situation we have here. It appears that you have a copy of a Dutch release that is not listed in the database. I used the advanced search function to search for releases from the Netherlands with a reference number like the one you gave. The search turned up 22 matches with the "CLV" prefix, but this title was not one of them. Therefore, the disc you have is not the exact release that someone has on their wishlist, although it is a Dutch PAL release of the correct title they are looking for. Because it is not an exact match of the specific release on their wishlist, they would not receive an e-mail notification about this disc which you have. Perhaps they might still be interested in it, but it's difficult to say for certain. I don't know what the specific differences may be between this disc and the release they have on their wishlist (the one already in the database). I think that the best way to handle this would be to submit the disc you have to the database as a new release. Give as much information as you can about this disc. Since you have a copy of it in hand, you should be able to fill in the majority of the information fields, with the exception of the release date and list price (unless these are shown on the jacket). I buy almost exclusively titles which are not listed here, and then submit all of the information about them. Release date and list price are usually the only fields I am unable to fill in. After you submit as much information as you can about it, most likely Julien (the admin) will validate it, and it will be added to the database. It will appear in the "newly added" section on the homepage with a "NEW" icon next to the title. Once this happens, you will be able to add it to your shop. Then, the person who is looking for this title may notice it and try to purchase it from your shop. Since members' wishlist information is private, only Julien would be able to see who has this title on their wishlist. If you are really interested in selling your disc, about the only other thing I could suggest is you might want to shoot a message to Julien about this matter, preferably after you submit the information about this release. He might be able to check who has this title on their wishlist and notify them about the disc you have to see if they are interested in it. Julien is very easy to work with, and I'm sure he would like to help you find a new home for this disc if he can. He gets a small cut of every disc sold here to help pay for his costs of running the site, so he does want to see discs get sold here as much as possible. Also, he is truly very passionate about this hobby, and wants to see collectors find what they are looking for here whenever a copy is available. Good luck to you, my friend! I hope you are able to make a deal with someone on this disc!

Best Regards,
David

I think there is something fishy in VideoScreen releases listed in the database: I have about 20 of them in my collection plus few doubles of certain releases and all of them have had CLV xxxx-type reference number, never seen a variants starting with VLP on that publisher. When I checked some of those VLP entries I noticed there have been 2 people who have created and/or updated them and they have definitely mixed something up, because some of the titles have sleeve shots with handwritten numbers on them and those very same discs are nowadays sitting in my shelves without a trace of VLP references anywhere in them. Maybe those entries have been originally created based on some kind of catalogue that had different product numbers and they've been later updated with matching sleeves without paying attention to actual printed refs, dunno, maybe some long-term dutch collector could know something, but it seems I also continued with the same mistake by adding some of them in my collection listing back in the days solely by title - gotta start to correct them and add missing entries with proper # to database where necessary.

What comes to Virus it is indeed the short version of Fukasaku's movie, I have it too although its one of those I've listed in my collection with wrong reference.

Hello!

When it comes to Dutch PAL releases, I have to entirely trust user inputs because I never held one in my hands before.

It means we all all these 50 VLP entries that might as well be identical to existing CLV entries.

Some of the VPL have a specific covert style:

But others have the Videoscreen grey style and the back cover shows "CLV" indeed:

Some are listed both as VLP and CLV, clearly I need some Dutch LD collector to sort this mess

Bobbie Jo and the Outlaw (1976) [CLV 8004]
Bobbie Jo and the Outlaw (1976) [VLP2058E]

Een Vrouw Als Eva [VLP2032E]
Een vrouw als Eva (1979) [CLV 8042]

Elckerlyc [VLP2048E]
Elckerlyc (1974) [CLV 8111]

Het Debuut (1977) [CLV 8041]
Het Debuut (1977) [VLP2031E]

Savage Hunt, The [CLV 8079]
Savage Hunt, The (1980) [VLP2037E]

Another example, someone submitted a rather impossible CLV8272 as LD Single with cover but the reference number is already taken by Lieverdjes uit Amsterdam [CLV 8272].

I need a bit of help here :-)

Julien

I can't comment on those VPV Video releases as I don't have any, they might aswell be listed correctly, but I'll try to fill in or update all the VideoScreens I have. All those handnumbered copies came from same one-man webshop in NL so he might be the one who added the sleeves in db, I could ask him about these if I can still find his contact information.
