Post subject:  Hello everyone!

Hi All!

Im Denson and new to the forum (even though I've collected laserdiscs since 1995)
The passion for this format cannot be described in words (as I guess all of you know)
It's just there. That special feeling.

Laserdisc is defenitely something I'll never let go of, regardless of all new glorious Ultra HD.

Glad I finally took the time to register on this site.

Best Regards to you all.

Denson

Collecting LD over the years has resulted in having an awful many LD players.
But then again...you can't have too many of these beauties :)
Those in my possession at the moment are:

CLD-S104
CLD-S304
CLD-V2800
CLD-2950
CLD-D925
LD-S9 (2 units)
CLD-R7G (2 units)

When it comes to amount of discs I only have a mere 350 or so.

I have been using one of my R7G in conjunction with a Calibre Vantage HD videoprocessor and an Onkyo TX-RZ1100 receiver.
But recently I have acquired:

Crystalio II VPS-3300
Lumagen Radiance XS 3D
Algolith Mosquito HDMI

Unfortunatley I haven't had the opportunity to try any of the recently acquired units yet, but they will be used in a chain with a R7G LD player in some way.
Feel free to comment what your preferred chain would look like.
They will be used on a Panasonic TX-65EZ1000 OLED display.

For UHD-BD, BD and DVD Im using an Oppo UDP-205 player.
For HD-DVD I am using one of my HD-EP30 players.

I have just started to look into display calibration and have acquired a Home Enthusiast license with CalMAN software.
But Im totally a beginner when it comes to calibration so chances are there will be some questions coming from this end once I get started :)

All the best!

Post subject:  Re: Hello everyone!

I first came in contact with LD in late 80's.
Some guy a friend of mine knew had a big black chunk on his computer-desk when we visited him to get some Commodore Amiga games.
I asked him what it was and he told me it was a laserdiscplayer.
I didn't reflect one second over it then. I was more interested in the Amiga games at that moment :)

Later in the mid 90's when I had become more interested in film and had a small but nice VHS collection, I happen to come across a store in my hometown selling LD's when I was passing by that street in another errand.
That's when it all started.
I was totally blown away, both by the picture and sound as well as all the extensive catalogue of movies that was available on laserdisc.
There I was surrounded by laserdiscs from head to toe and every movie was in Letterbox/Widescreen editions as well as Collector's editions and Director's cut versions.
For years I had tried to find all these movies in letterbox or director's cut versions on VHS with no luck and I just couldn't believe my eyes when I had entered that store and they all just stood there neatly on the shelves.
From that moment I was hooked on laserdisc.
Bought my first player from that store, a CLD-S104 wich I still have in possession.

That's the story how I got into the wonderful world of laserdisc :)

And, let met guess, some Kick Off 2 sessions or lengthy Speedball 2 matches?
Or perhaps some Great Courts 2 or Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge 2 in null-modem mode?

Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge 2 for sure :)
No null-modem mode though.
Only split-screen.
Played with a Suncom Slik Stik wich was my preferred joystick from that era.
The Tac-2 was nice but the Slik Stik was so precise with that short throw.

Denson, you've never been the sharpest kid on the block. Some people said you were dense. Like diamonds.
