Hi all! I started to get interested in LD's when CD-Video got introduced in Holland in 1988. I was still at school, so couldn't really afford it. I thought if I would start an LD-business as a hobby I could buy them cheaper from wholesalers and if I would sell a few I would even make money to buy more for my collection! Ten years later my school 'LD-business' had a stock of over 100.000 LD's... After 20 years my very loved little business had to close because of some stupid idiots working for a greedy bank, that wasn't interested in supporting succesful businesses, but only in rules of dated paperwork. The good side is, that I could finally move back to beautiful New Zealand It's paradise here, but NOT for LaserDiscs unfortunately. Were they ever sold here??? greetings, Robert The photo below was taken in 1997 at the shop in Rotterdam: Mariniersweg 78a. Shortly after the US release of Daylight.

Hi Robert, welcome to the forum!
Is that picture of your shop? It looked like an amazing, heavenly place, shame it closed. I can see plenty of discs I want from the thumbnail alone.
I've no idea if laserdiscs were sold in NZ but I know they were sold in Australia though they never caught on there, sorry that's not much help.
However I'm just back from Copenhagen on the Danish island of Zealand and they certainly seem to have plenty of laserdiscs there, until recently they apparently had a shop that sounds very similar to your own.
My sister lives in New Zealand now, I've always meant to go out and visit, it looks like such a beautiful country.

Welcome Ro-Disc, I have travelled to your shop ''when you used to be in Rotterdam'' and have spent a great deal of money with yourselves. I found your staff to be very helpful, and your service to be top quality. Is there still a Ro-Disc shop in Rotterdam? I would like to purchase many more titles from you, but lack of available funds prevents myself from doing so at this time. Your shop is amazing and is great to look around. I hope business is good and that all of your staff are well. Sincere Regards

Here's an old picture of Ro-Disc. This was the first shop in Rotterdam at Overblaak 109. It was situated upstairs between the characteristic Cubic Apartments. 1994 Attachment:

Here's a short video I found on Youtube. It's probably filmed around 2000 as the LD's were mixed between the DVD's. Up to 1998 Ro-Disc was dedicated to LD's only. We had to place LD's on the floor as well, because we simply didn't have enough space and an enormous stock. I have a video myself in better quality of the shop with a separate LD section in 2006. I will try to post this later. http://youtu.be/YRluJIT_G-o
