Hi
I'm user manpen - had this forum been here when i was really active listing discs and info I doubt I would have ever been off it. I doubt I'll be around much but it's great to see one established. I've pretty much moved on to Blu-Ray now and my 5000 discs are now in storage (probably rotting away) - I basically gave up when my HLD-X9 gave up working as lasers had become an occasional play at best - and my girlfriend was finding it hard to walk round 3 huge, crammed shelving units (when i win the lottery and can afford a bigger house they are coming back).
Still, there is no thrill today with blu-ray as there was opening a Criterion laser set back in the day. The little disc might outshine them quality wise on screen but the packaging and sheer physicality of Lasers just couldn't be beat.
Glad to see you all continuing the bug and this site remains one of the best dedicated collectors site on the web.
all the best and hi from London
cheers Kenny

Hello manpen, Good to read from you and welcome to the forum side. Sorry to read about your HLD X9 giving up, but playing those 5000 titles of yours WOW! couldn't you have got it repaired? All the best to you Regards

Hello Kenny, It's great to have you involved in the forum! I have looked at your collection listing frequently in the past. I particularly looked at the PAL section of it to see if there was enough that I would be interested in to make investing in a PAL player worthwhile. You had what I considered one of the best "public" collections on the site at the time, so that's why I looked at yours' closely. I didn't see enough there in the PAL format that I felt it would make sense for me to make the jump to the European standard. In all honesty, you have a lot of duplication in PAL format of things I already have in NTSC. You really have a fantastic collection, my friend! I was quite envious of it for a long time, until at some point your activity here became completely dormant. It was shortly after that time that my own collection surpassed yours. You will note that I have remained extremely active here, and that my collection has continued to grow to a level I could never have envisioned. It is truly a hobby for the obsessive among us! At any rate, it's wonderful to have you back on the site! Best Regards, David
