Forgot that i didn't do one of these.. better late than never, right? My name is Joel, and i live in West Virginia, USA. I'd always been fascinated by laserdiscs growing up but kinda forgot about them until seeing the Angry Video Game Nerd do a review about his laserdiscs. After him sparking my memory, I started collecting my laserdiscs after i found a Pioneer CLD-V2600 on ebay for less than $20 in April 2010. I have been collecting DVDs and Blu-Ray for several years, but after getting a better job i've been able to expand my collection to include Laserdiscs (and more DVDs and Blu-Rays ). However, i just recently purchased a house, so for a while the funds will be short and i won't be buying as much. I purchased a Pioneer Elite DVL-90 player around a year or year and a half ago, and love every minute of it. My current setup includes: Pioneer Elite DVL-90, Philips 42" 1080p LCD HDTV, Sony Playstation 3, Home Theater/Gaming PC, and an Onkyo HT-S5200 7.1 Surround system. Currently, i have 170+ laserdiscs, over 450 Blu-Rays, and around 1200-1300 DVDs. Mostly I'm collecting Blu-Rays now, and my DVDs are mostly at a stand-still, other than picking up some tv shows that haven't been released on Blu-Ray yet. I'll still pick up an LD every other month or so it seems though. I'll usually bid on a couple each month on ebay, but trying to stay in a budget keeps me from winning most of them, lol. I've been posting on the forum for about a month now, and i'm impressed by the amount of knowledge and enthusiasm there is here, as well as the overall feeling of camraderie. I haven't seen too many personal attacks or arguments, and that's pretty impressive for a forum. I enjoy reading everyone's feedback and opinions on here and i've seen a few good suggestions of some movies to watch for. Here's to hoping this forum is around for a long time. Thanks guys!

Thanks for the presentation Joel! I was a little scared of monitoring/administrating the forum for bad behavior/trolling but so far everyone has been a very decent netizen and 0 abuse report sent by shocked souls. I hope it will remain like that! Julien

Good afternoon from the UK jeb86home, I have just enjoyed reading your experiences past and present. Welcome to this site and hope you enjoy good correspondence with us all. I am sure that we will correspond at some stage. Take care and hope you settle into your new home. I can understand the limitations with reference available funds, as it's taken myself just under four years to decorate and furnish my home from scratch. The first week in May I shall be decorating, fitting speaker cable behind coving, fitting speakers, followed by doing much the same with the hallway and cloakroom during the same week. . . . Minus speakers. Keep in touch with your progress if you like. . . . As it's always good to encourage others with their goals. Regards to you.

firehorse_44 wrote: Nice intro Joel ! Thanks for sharing your story......... Glad for your new digs....May your LD collection grow ! And add a X-Box 360 to your Mackin Entertainment setup ! LoL lol, i've considered a 360 several times, but never made the purchase. i'm more into PC gaming.. i just prefer the feel of mouse-and-keyboard control over that of a controller. i was mostly using my PS3 as a blu-ray player until i built my home theater/gaming pc with a blu-ray player built into it. now, i havent turned on my PS3 in over a year, lol. Crysis 2 and Skyrim have kept me busy on the PC (not to mention they look so much better on PC too ). so, i may get a 360 at some point, but i kinda doubt it. one of my friends lives pretty close to me and he has a 360 with over 100 games, so if i get the itch to play 360 i'll just go up to his house, lol.
