Hello everyone.

Years ago I set up my first "home theater" system that included, a LD player. Nothing fancy just a simple Proscan PSLD-43. Worked for years, then went into hibernation.

Now I find that the kids are rediscovering the LD. Ah the enjoyment they will have with this. ( And turning a new generation on to the wonders of LD. )

I am now looking for old LDs and a replacement player as mine will not spin up. Hopefully you guys will be willing to help on both.

Welcome to the forum!

Ive been hooked on the format ever since I found out about it, so I'm sure the kids will have a blast!

I'd recommend a Pioneer brand machine. Something like a Pioneer D704 Could be appropriate.

Hello to you.

If you are going for a replacement to get yourself & your kids into LDs again a PIONEER player that you can confirm works okay would be your best bet.

After saying that though there are quite a few PIONEER units re-branded under different names so they are worth checking out & any working player now is perhaps worth a look.

Have fun with the big discs again  .

I would go Sony. They're more reliable in sound and picture than Pioneer units on average. Once a disc spins up on a Sony it plays through 100% with crystal clear audio. If You get a Pioneer there is a 50% chance that you will experience audio/video issues mid playback.

This is based on my experience of a dozen players, 6 Sonys and 6 Pioneers.
