Long time collector/viewer of Laserdiscs until my trusty CLD-99 died on me about a decade ago. Never really got back into watching. Looking into moving soon and while going through my storage unit, I came across my whole collection and decided to upload it online here. Dunno where I go after that. But just wanted to say hi to everyone!

Wecome from New Zealand!

Enjoy adding your LDs to the database, its fun to see if are worth anything or not.
If you have any that the database is missing covers , basic information or anything interesting dont be shy to do so :)

Welcome from Sweden! I don't have any LD's but I am here because of my HD DVD collection. Maybe in the future I will start with LD aswell but for the moment I stick with the 12 cm optical discs for my collecting. :-)

Hello there!

Did you keep your broken 99? Any possibility in getting it fixed locally? Next step would be to watch some of those discs.

It had been repaired twice already. Belts kept breaking. then the place near me that repaired closed down. Finished college and began to work more and just never got back into it.

leaning towards selling the collection. Some of the Criterion Collection and Special Editions have such beautiful artwork its a shame to have to get rid of it. I just don't have the space anymore. I have an Universal Signature Collection of Out of Sight I got signed by Soderbergh. That I definitely will be keeping.

I know I'll be moving into a house with my GF in hopefully a year and if we can afford a big enough place and can find a reliable player on secondary market, I may reconsider this. But it's Los Angeles and expensive as s**t to live here. LOL

Replacing the belt is fairly easy on newer models such as the CLD-99. Maybe the repair shop didn't use the correct belt size so it got quickly worn out? Anyways, welcome! :)

You've come to a Laserdisc forum, so naturally my response will be to keep your discs and try to find somewhere to repair your player! Then sit back, relax and spin some shiny 12" discs.

As laserpaal says it's quite easy so you may be able to fix it yourself. If not, we can always help you here at lddb.

1 you're lucky that's all that ever happened to this player.
2 if you plan on keeping/collecting LDs then you will need to get used to doing this type of thing.

Any of these older formats need your own hands on repairs, we have no real techs around anymore.
Kurtis is on the forum from time to time but we need to be hands on with these repairs as he's the last one.

Honestly, I've looked into maybe buying a used player and keeping the collection, but at the costs I'm seeing, it's just not worth it. So I'll be working on selling my collection at some point.

Thx everyone for the greetings. If anyone has suggestions or tips on selling, I'd really appreciate it. My collection DB on here should be done in a day or so.

Have a good day ya'll
