Yeah! Finally. It's strange, i wanted to get Laserdisc player way back in late 80's early 90's but here in Finland the movies were hideously expensive and often imported - so i passed that thought... and time went by. From VHS, to VCD, SVCD, DVD, BR... and then i realized there's no reason why NOT get one now! I must admit it's kind of nostalgic trip for me but it's something that i always wanted to experience.

So i finally picked up nice Pioneer DVL-909 and elsewhere, few disks tonight. Now.. i'm going to enjoy it all.

Next... more discs... more discs.... more discs!

Well nice to see an another finn here. Maybe at one point one of us is able to hunt down one of those finnkaraoke discs that are still not on this website. I had two opportunities but was too cheap.

Anyway enjoy the DVL. It's feature packed for sure, since I think it has about the same level of features as my CLD D925. Though from what I have heard it's picture quality is not as nice as one of the earlier higher end CLD players (2950 or D925). But it's still probably one of the best of the PAL/NTSC players.

Welcome,

Hope you enjoy the format and you've got yourself a decent player to start with particularly if you stick to PAL format discs, the Finnish membership seems to be increasing week on week these days!

Also make sure you will not lose the DVL remote. Those are much harder to replace than a lost CLD one.

Lots of NTSC discs were imported here (as anywhere in europe) - most used disks i've seen sold have been NTSC. Not an issue whatsoever. I'm fond of NTSC anyway.

Finnkaraoke (and other Finnish karaoke discs) have popped up every now and then to huuto or tori. I personally think it would be nice to have a Finnish Laserdisc. And due to laserdisc not really being used here on any other capacity than karaoke. Well it means those are about the only Finnish discs.

Unless you off couse count the USA release of Leningrad Cowboys Go America or the Japanese release of Tulitikkutehtaan tyttö as Finnish discs.

Anyway I was able to locate a website that sells Finnkaraoke and other Finnish karaoke discs. Unfortunately they ask too much money in my opinion. 50 euros for one Finnkaraoke disc and I'm not even sure if they have the cover for it. Or is it a disc only. Anyway here is the link.

Finland

Finland, Finland, Finland,
The country where I want to be,
Pony trekking or camping,
Or just watching TV,
Finland, Finland, Finland,
It's the country for me.

You're so near to Russia,
So far from Japan,
Quite a long way from Cairo,
Lots of miles from Vietnam.

Finland, Finland, Finland,
The country where I want to be,
Eating breakfast or dinner,
Or snack lunch in the hall,
Finland, Finland, Finland,
Finland has it all.

You're so sadly neglected,
And often ignored,
A poor second to Belgium,
When going abroad.

Finland, Finland, Finland,
The country where I quite want to be,
Your mountains so lofty,
Your treetops so tall,
Finland, Finland, Finland,
Finland has it all.

Finland, Finland, Finland,
The country where I quite want to be,
Your mountains so lofty,
Your treetops so tall,
Finland, Finland, Finland,
Finland has it all.

Finland has it all...
