Since I recently got a scanner at home... when I stumbled on this lot, I thought it would be nice to scan the parts related to the Japan releases to illustrate on LDDb.



The lot contains most of the releases from 1994 till 2000:

There are quite many duplicates, but when I explained to the seller that they would be scanned for LDDb.com, he was quite happy they didn't go to trash and found a welcoming home. He even threw a few more Pioneer quarterly catalogs on top for free!

At a time where we may lose our physical media ( cf Sony and the ending of video games on discs, and it's just the beginning...), it is REALLY the good moment to preserve the maximum of information.

Because We are the last ( not the latest ) generation thinking about physical media ( CED-VHS-LD-DVD-BD-4K and film reels )

Checking late listings, I found one that we had missing:

Fû-un Lion Maru: LD Box (1973) [NLS-1001]

And it seems that this LD Box also released some titles individually: Kaidan Fu-In Bako: Japanese Horror Collection [DALP-0233] as [DALP-023303] and [DALP-023305].

• Star Trek: 30 Years and Beyond (1996) [PILF-2791], Inside Star Trek: The Real Story (1998) [PILF-2792] and Journey's End: The Saga of Star Trek TNG (1994) [PILF-2793] were announced for November 1999, cancelled, then rescheduled for March 2000 which explains the broken sequence of the PILF-279*.
• Thomas Crown Affair, The (1999) [PILF-2829] was delayed from June 23rd till July 26th, 2000.
• El Cid (1961) [PILF-2802] was confirmed as cancelled.
• Gekko kamen: Vol.1 (1958) [TRS-1001] never had a Vol.2...

That will add 101 monthly releases + 1 special!

This will be almost like opening a LD time capsule

From 1986.....40 years....Almost in a total mint condition

I really think this is a very important moment. To preserve the maximum of informations about what we care about. Here, Laserdiscs.

As I say in my previous posts, we had known LDs, Dvds, Bds and 4K mainly...and nothing more
( no 8K or 16K in a near future...)

I don't want to quote Roy Beatty ( Rutger Hauer ) in Blade Runner, but all of this ( if you weren't present Mr Julien and also with the help of all of us ) would be lost in time

In good shape but the paper has faded away after so many years (oldest is 40+ years).
