Tell me if you've already known, but any Laserdisc released between 1980 and early 1990 has the L logo with "LaserVision" written underneath, while releases after that have "LASER DISC" under the L instead. So, even with the LaserVision logo, some '80s discs had digital and analog audio, while more others had analog.

But in the UK, LaserVision was the logo for analog audio-only discs, and LASER DISC for digital audio-only. Pretty strict for Brits, I suppose. No offense to any Brits on this forum.

Didn't know about the UK discs but the Toho discs in Japan were Toho Videodisc for analog audio and Toho Laserdisc for both analog and digital.

Well, even if some LD's all through 1999 (Warner Bros., I guess) had the 1981 LaserVision logo playing at the beginning...

We don't even know what the first disc had the "LASER DISC" logo instead of "LaserVision" logo, but it was in mid-1990. Which might be a good idea for the database to have the "LaserVision" logo for LD's (minus the ones published by DiscoVision) released from 1980 to early 1990, and the "LASER DISC" logo for releases from mid-1990-2007.

Yes, the Onta Station Vol. 1018 LD was the last known LD.

Ah no worries, we Brits have got pretty thick skin so not offended in the least here! Tbh. I think this was the case in most of the other neighbouring countries on this side of the pond too, maybe Julien can confirm regarding France?

France was a bit of a mess with multiple logos.

They sometimes decided to use the "CD Video" and call it "Compact Disc Video".

Then later updated to Laser Disc:

This is Analog with "Laser Disc":

But I couldn't easily find an example of a Laservision with Digital audio.

Thanks for this, I have to admit Compact Disc Video on a LD cover is a new one for me! I see this is of PDO (UK?) manufacture so was it a Phillips attempt to try and swing the format name to their preference back then one wonders?

Maybe… maybe not. I think it was more about creating an association with the successful CD format to the niche LD format to spawn a revival of sorts (LD was at this point starting to grow in popularity and I’m sure anything to quicken that pace was on their mind). I think it really just created more confusion as an LD is anything but “compact”.
