They probably went round all the closing laserdisc stores and cherry picked the best remaining stock.
I would expect to see some large private laserdisc collections appear on places like Ebay in the future as collectors pass away or decide to sell their treasures however I cannot imagine any warehouses remaining that are filled with new/sealed stock. Actually this is already happening...as in the sell off. And these collections have been showing up not exactly on ebay. Try this...if your city or town has a mom and pop shop that sells old records go on in there and ask them if they have any laserdiscs. The reason i tell u this option to try...is because those that do not know what a laserdisc is often assume that what they are looking at is a record and often get rid of them with there old records. And it seems that the last few years...people that have had older relatives pass on and have to go through their personal effects have often sold off what they assume are records to these mom and pop record shops. So try it....you may just find some good LD's...i have actually had success finding a few good titles in this way rescently.

I got my all time best laserdisc buy in an old antique shop over in England....the owner of the shop had acquired a large music collection. In amongst mostly LP records was a set of about 100 or so Japanese LDs, all Western music titles and many still sealed or in beautiful used condition. Looking back most were incredibly rare titles. Each was priced at just £1 ($1.50) as the owner presumably thought these were LPs and just wanted rid of them....this was 6 years ago when LPs were really out of fashion and just considered junk not even worth allocating floorspace to. I bought the entire set and the seller then told me he had some more which he hadn't sorted and asked if I was interested.....he proceeded to pull out another box of about 70 laserdiscs - again all music titles. I have all of these now in my collection and many are amongst my most treasured discs - a good few I have never seen another copy of for sale anywhere in the world. Even I didn't fully comprehend the value of some of those titles at the time as I had only just started collecting LDs although I knew they were worth more than a £1 each!!

A while back I bought some LDs of a local guy at his home. He had 100s of sealed LDs. He was a salesman in the 1990s and when his distribution company close, he took home a lot of LDs. It was pretty cool to see at the LDs there.
I think some must exist at the film company's like Paramount or Fox or something.
