Hi all.

Apologies for this message, as I haven’t been able to find my answer somewhere else.

Whilst clearing out my parents garage I found a Planet of the Apes laserdisc. Not having a player I wanted to sell it on, however I don’t know if it’s damaged or not.

I have attached an image here, it kind of looks like damp/water damage to the disc but I’m not sure that makes sense? The packaging is in great condition.

Any advice would be fantastic, I don’t want to sell if it’s in bad condition without being honest, so would rather know what I’m working with!

Thanks I’m advance.

I see you are in UK and this is a CBS pressing so possibly: Planet of the Apes (1968) [1054-70]

Bad luck, this is a PDO UK pressing and is probably heavily damaged by laser rot by now.

It's probably not worth trying to sell it.

Ah I did not know laser rot was a thing, that’s interesting to know.

Thank you both so much for that, I will try and sell whilst being transparent with the condition.

Hopefully someone will still want it in their collection.

Thanks again!

And then there is a chance it would play just fine.
Have seen similar discoloration ld's have nominal playback in my collection.

Only one way to find out if a corrupted platter..... someone must SPIN IT UP ! ! !

Cheers

That UK cover does look nice.
Either just keep it/display it maybe, else just gonna have to sell as is or give to a small local record store
