I'm REALLY surprised that the vast majority of dead side references are under general laserdisc. I would have thought all dead side related topics belong here in "Oddities". I NEVER heard of them til today. Gonna browse my collection next week for Discovision titles. I trust I can instantly recognize them by the ugly "rip open sheet to partially reveal the cover" cover? But I'm not sure I didn't somewhere see that some NON-Discovision titles had dead sides. Can anyone confirm or deny that allegation? If some NON-Discovision titles might have dead sides, my real question here is, if we play a potential dead side and it shows either the turtle or some other words that indicate that the program is not on this side, is it safe to believe there is NO partial dead side to be uncovered?? (But I WILL visually observe the correct side visually to see if it looks coated. Will be easier after I see one for the first time.) |

That's correct. You need to remove the coating on DiscoVision to reach the dead side. More reading for you first: What do DiscoVision dead sides look like?
