Thanks. It cost me $1,100 back in 2002. Of course, if Disney ever officially releases the film on DVD or BD, it's going to be worth about $1.

I have a set of laserdiscs that cover movie releases from 1991 to 1995. Each disc has about 10 to 12 movies that were released during a specific month. The other one I have that I have never seen other then mine is TED 2 and it is sealed. I dont know what it is worth but then again, I have never seen another. The movie preview discs are the only ones I have ever seen.

Going by what I consider to be part of my collection, not everything currently in my possession:

market value: probably a Jackie Chan LD which I have never seen any mention of in any English language magazine/website/forum (incl. this DB)...
personal interest: 'The Silver Stallion Will Never Come'

in short: nothing remotely 'valuable' compared to your collections

So my treasures I have are different.

Japan Alaska The Last Frontier Squeeze LD

Japan Spiritual Earth series... Aloha Waves, Crystal Water (still wanting Mt Fiji but cheaper priced copy)

My Japan Space Fantasia 2001 Night Story 5" CDV that I recently got. It's this one here.

Coolest cover value is Cannibal Ferox with the soundtrack and the barf bag

I actually bought that off of Ebay NEW/SEALED about 7 years ago for a mere $20.

Then sold it on ebay about 4-5 years ago along with the LD of Cannibal Holocaustfor $80.

I kind of regret that now since that LD seems to be going for $100+ these days!

I don't know about titles I have that are "market price valuable"

I guess one would be the Japanese release of Get Crazy since it hasn't been released on DVD/BR (no US LD either.) I also had it autographed by Malcolm McDowell so I guess that ups the price a bit.

Valuable to me are things like Scream Greats: Tom Savini, Elite Dawn of the Dead Collectors Box Set and Suspiria: Spectral Collection. All of which I've had autographed by Tom Savini, George Romero and Dario Argento respectively.

Well, I suppose that the most valuable in my collection would have to be one of the late Japanese releases. Probably, I would say The Cell, since that is the one I had to give the most for. However, The Sixth Day, U-571, and Mission Impossible 2 would most likely be not far behind in terms of the price any one of them might fetch on the open market.

Although these late Japanese releases are the ones with the proven highest resale values, and they are unrivaled in terms of production quality, I am completely convinced that I have many other titles in my collection which are every bit as rare, if not even rarer. I would point to many of the exclusive releases in the Hong Kong and Taiwanese markets, i.e. the ones with no equivalent U.S. and/or Japanese releases. Most of these were produced in extremely limited quantities. The reason for this is that these markets were much different than the U.S. and Japanese markets. Not only were they smaller markets, but they were focused much more on rental business than on sales to collectors. This accounts for the small production quantities, but also means that it is often very difficult to locate copies in pristine condition, unfortunately.

One of the sellers I bought many of my Hong Kong titles from told me that he liked Hong Kong discs better than Japanese ones. When I asked him why, he gave me two reasons. First, he said almost all of them were either in English or had English subtitles, unlike their Japanese counterparts. Second, and more importantly, he said that he thought many of them were among the rarest discs ever released. He mentioned one Hong Kong publisher in particular as an example. He told me that he believed discs from Laserlink International were some of the very rarest of all. He said that he tried his best to obtain every title he ever came across from this publisher. There were certain titles from them that he was never able to get. A particular example he gave of this was Faceless, which seems to be one of the most sought-after titles this company released. (I felt that I was very fortunate not long ago to secure a copy of it for less than $50!) He also mentioned that there were a number of titles from this publisher that in many years of collecting he had never seen more than a single copy of. I have taken the same approach in trying to obtain titles from this publisher, and have had precisely the same experience. Many of these titles that I own I have never seen another copy of. For that reason, I would name many of these as among the most treasured items in my collection. A few examples would be Mask of Murder, Edge of Innocence, Sweet Little Baby, and Time Burst: The Final Alliance. They might not command the same kind of prices as the late Japanese releases, primarily because they are more obscure films, and there are not as many people who even know that they exist. However, I have no doubt that they are every bit as rare. I have no intention of selling any of them, because I'm very confident that they would be nearly impossible to replace. Well, that's just one man's opinion, for what it's worth.

I still dont have a clue as to what my copy of TED would go for, lol. I think that is the coolest as I have only ever seen the one I have. The movie preview discs, I am clueless as to what they are as they are the only ones I have ever seen as well. I have a lot of stuff from 60 to 120 dollars and am always on the lookout. I would say the most expensive disc I have owned was South Park the Movie or the Matrix.

Hi there, can I ask you to create an LDDB listing for that Suspiria release if you have some time? I don't see it on the site and I wasn't even aware it existed. I love this movie and didn't think there was a sold LD version worth owning.

I have four Squeeze LD titles, I think thats all of them released in the US. These were the 'Toshiba 16:9' discs. I have Grumpy Old Men, Unforgiven, Free Willy, and The Fugitive. I got them for a good price. Free Willy was the only one that was not sealed. The others are sealed (they don't look re-sealed) but their covers are a bit curved or bent slightly. I kept receiving low-ball offers on these when I was originally trying to sell them, but I may just keep them for bragging rights. :D

I also have an odd Select-A-View disc with a red label that has a ton of movie trailers on them. I also had a few demonstration discs as well as my import of Star Wars Episode 1 The Phantom Menace... then my Japanese Star Wars Collector's Edition LD Set (white box with gold lettering) which was the most I've ever spent on an LD set! :o

Dam, I can't believe how many of you guys have copies of x-mens, cells and MI:2s :o How did you all manage to get copies?! I live in Japan, but never come across any thing close to that caliber of awesomeness

I feel the same, been alot all over Japan and never find anything in this caliber. I feel that most of the copies are in collectors hands in Japan and many copies went of on export on the release.

My most valuable Laserdisc is definately the Neon Genesis Evangelion Theatrical Box Set. When you look at what is included, you can understand why.
