I was watching Land Before Time, The (1988) [40864] today. The movie ends, and just as the LD came to a stop there was a lot of grinding and the disc took forever to stop spinning. I opened it up and everything was fine except the label for side B was laying in the tray.

Hm...evidently those labels are needed for traction. :)

So what do I do now, exactly?

Oddly enough, I have only ever had the labels come off on one disc, and it was also The Land Before Time. Same thing. Opened up my player after watching it and both labels dropped off.

Weak Glue or what ?
Dimly seem to remember that happening to a copy I had but that was nearly 10 years ago.
Threw that one out I recall.
Wondering if gluing it is wise...........?

There would be much weeping however.

i would say it depends on how one is with glue.
if you are really good you could use crazy glue, but i would do something like wood glue.
it won't mess up the disc, you can still clean up with water even after dry and if you mess up a bit.

you could also use contact cement but there is acetone in that and that will mess up the plastic.
use a glue stick, it may not last as long but you will have it.

or another one is getting spray glue, i think it's called super 77, all you would do is spray the sticker away from the disc then restick like a normal sticker.

i personally never had or seen a sticker fall off, but i've used all the glues mentioned as i'm sure most have and i would use any of the above to get it back on.

From putting back on lots of DiscoVision labels that came off, I've found that simple acid-free glue sticks work best. They are not wet so the label won't get damaged like it does if you use Elmer's or something and since the plastic of a LaserDisc is slightly porous, the paper bonds really well, plus, should you get any on the playing surface, it will clean up with a damp towel. And it stays glued on. I've never had another come loose or fall off in over 30 years of owning LD's.

Super 77 is contact-cement in a can.

If it won't hold, nothing will.
