Believe me, no one wants another copy of Jurassic Park or Aliens. You cant actually sell that to someone, you have to give it to them so the curse passes to them.

Someone gave me a rotten Aliens US box set... And I had to buy a Jurassic Park Japanese surround LD in a lot that I couldn't split.

Yes... The curse has been passed on.

I have tried to use them as frisbees and it doesnt work. No matter how hard you try to destroy them they multiply. If you break one in two they become two new discs, not 1 broken disc.

Now I'm leery of letting my son use them for target practice, I let him shoot junker lp's. I'm thinking -what if we put them in the burn pile, will the shrinking of the LD's and lp's cause the curse to go away? :)

I dont know, if you use a shotgun on them every splinter might come back as a new one. That could leave you with several hundred copies. Burning them would work, that would end the curse I am sure.

The fire might shrink them into blue rays. And then you could give them to some poor sucker.

So basically (and forgive me if I'm misinterpreting this) my most valuable discs are Jurassic Park and Alien... because they have so much potential other than merely being watched! ;)

Looking in my dupe box: Independence Day, Shawshank redemption, Last of the Mohicans, Pulp Fiction are my rare ones..... at 3 of each. we are in burn season now, so we may have to shrink a few more 8-)

I once had a little over 300 titles on LaserDisc, but I traded most of them in at a local used record store for credit. I then used the store credit to get some Blu-ray discs. I whittled my LD collection down to around 50 titles, most of them Criterion which I saved for the commentary tracks. I just didn't have the patience to sell each title individually on something like Ebay or Craigslist, even though I know I could have gotten more money if I did it that way. Plus I needed the shelf space.

I don't own a single copy of either Jurassic Park or Aliens, does it indicate that I cannot be taken seriously as a collector?

No, I do not presently own one either. I do have a sealed copy of the third movie though. I have 3k discs in my collection atm and I look through them and wonder where all the good stuff is, lol. I am getting greedy.

If you have bought a used LD player bundled with some discs, I just don't think it is actually possible to avoid getting Alien, Independence Day, Jurassic Park etc on laserdisc!
I've multiple copies of each which I have never watched. The price I got the players at was so good I just put up with the fact I was going to receive yet another copy of some discs I didn't want!

I've only ever managed to get a sizeable collection of music discs bundled with a player once - but it was priceless. It contained many titles I've never seen again. The seller had lived in Japan, moved to Singapore, then moved to France and eventually settled in the UK so their library was one of the most varied I've ever seen!
