I hope to get the remains of Tower Records Laserdiscs as they put them away after no one wanted them anymore in 2001. Anyone want anything in particular for cover? The Cell? Titan AE, Lol. It is always fun and I fell like I am playing California Scratchers - The Lottery.

Anything by Fred Olen Ray--especially Dinosaur Island and Over the Wire

I'll definitely pay $20 or so for each!

I can't remember if Tower sold Japanese import LaserDisc's or not - I bought many imported LP's from their store in Torrance, but just can't recall about their LaserDisc's.

I want a copy of the widescreen Japanese pressing of Earthquake - but I wouldn't pay more than $20 for it. I would pay $30 or $40 for a copy of Deathquake, the Japanese rip-off of Earthquake. Even if you don't speak Japanese you can follow the story if you've seen Earthquake because it's that similar.

yeah, tower sold Japanese LDs.
but tower closed some time ago, why wouldn't they have just sold off everything off when they
closed the business and sold all the property they owned?
after LDs were done they never had any leftovers at the NYC stores, it was total blowout sales before.

I was surprised at the post - it would never occur to me that there was still a stash of LaserDisc's from Tower. Since Pioneer basically sold off everything years ago I would have thought everyone else would have too.

also such a large store like tower, they would have sold it off right after the death of LD.

unless mikey is pulling our legs?

Yeah, someone can dream cant they, actually, someone around here just found a storage locker full of laserdiscs. As stated in another post. so they are there. Dont know if it would be from tower though, could be suncoast, lol. I am just bound and determined to find a locker full of laserdiscs. Hell, saw one full of VHS today, though didnt see anything good.

The biggest remaining stashes of laserdiscs are right here in people's collections. Lots of people with cool stuff but keeping quiet about it!
It would be crazy for any store to hold onto stock of a format that has been discontinued as it would be perceived as worthless.
Retail stores are not in the business of speculating about items becoming collectible over time so I suspect if there was any surplus stock remaining
it would be junk titles they just couldn't get rid of.

unless it's a small mom and pop type store, they could have stored it at home.

i found some guitars here that were at a house of a couple that owned a tourist shop.
they had some really cool guitars, USA made from the 60s with the name NASHVILLE on the headstock.

Not necessarily. I remember when there was an HMV store in Philadelphia, they used to sell Laserdiscs. However, right around 1998, their LD section disappeared overnight. I asked a worker there what happened to the LDs, he merely said that they were taken down to make room for DVDs.

No one could tell me if they were sold off or not.

I like watching people on Storage Wars throw their money away. If I had a locker I didn't pay the rent on I'd put everything in boxes and label them china, jewelry, Blu-ray, coins, and all that would be inside would be my trash. LOL! Hopefully I get to see them bid 5,000 on it and all to haul away my trash. You can't make any money doing this. You'd have to buy a lot of lockers, just to break even. The time away from a real job, the risk, you might as well gamble. You win some and loose some, end in the end you just loose.

Who's the BIGGEST IDIOT on that show? Barry, Darrell, Dave or Jarrod? They're all pretty dumb, but I'd go with Darrell, but seeing Dave loose 5000 on a couch made my day.

In the early 80's in St. Louis, the department store Famous-Barr got all the MCA DiscoVision discs the local MCA Distributing warehouse had. So, suddenly every Famous-Barr store had copies of Fellini's Cassanova, The Bride Of Frankenstein, Secret Of Bigfoot, The Hardy Boys, Dracula, etc... Many were titles that had been dropped from the catalog years before, like Looking For Mr. Goodbar - and all were priced at their original $5.95 to $24.95 price. If one of the movies was an early pressing with the $15.95 sticker on it, that's what it was sold for.

Dave is the one I'd gladly shoot and put out of his misery. Barry is a character "theeeeere it is!" And I don't know where Darrell banks to get those thirty dollar bills

sometimes i think we are, think about how much those idiots are getting paid for each episode
that's why they can spend crazy money on the rooms.

just like that picker guy, the fat guy is not part of the other guys business or web site.
makes me think he's just an actor.
and his local store is a joke, only sells T-shirts and gloves with his name silk screened on.

That's why they call it "the b**b toob"?
I watch the pickers. I like Frank  (the "fat guy"). Mike Wolf makes me nervous, I don't trust him
It must all be "true", it's on the History Channel after all...

You can find decent stuff in the auctions. I bid on a unit and found a 600 dollar softball bat, a 300 dollar softball bat, a 200 dollar softball bat and a 100 dollar softball bat. All for the price of 150 dollars and made quite a bit off it. I have found a lot of cool stuff but havent spent a lot. If the person dies and it goes into forclosure that is one way to get something, a divorce or someone just leaves the state. Other times there is crap in a locker and you just ignore it. I have spent maybe 300 total on my units and have made close to 1000.
