Back in 1984, I heard announced on an FM radio station in NYC that they are/will/did | playing/play/played a Bill Joel Laserdisc. I think it was this one:

Billy Joel: Live From Long Island (1982) [6297-80]

Kind of makes sense. Plus a plug for the format...

Except one was a little too shiny to be a record ;-)

Likely to be Tina Turner: Live in Rio '88 (1988) [080 348-1].

A very tenuous one this!

Rob Zombie makes a quick reference to laserdiscs. He just calls it laser. Don't know if he's a huge fan or not but it seems like he upgraded most of his laserdisc collection to dvd probably because it's more portable and the dvds look better. Also the dvds now a days are now just downscaled hd movies. Dvd's now a days look a lot better than probably the Dvds released at the time of this MTV crib's show.

Not an appearance physical wise but laserdiscs are referenced in the TV show The Flash 1990 in episode 18 Done with Mirrors. The Flash or Barry himself talks about laserdiscs for a brief second. It's near the end of the episode and Barry is in a disguise as Mr. Zoom and he claims he has invented video games, laserdiscs, and so on.

My wife loves the TV show Friends and we were watching this one episode where the character Ross was trying to get the rest of the crew to spend time with him mentioning he has a Laserdisc player and they could have a movie marathon or something like that. I think it was Season 3. Didn't actually show a close up of the LD player or any LDs though.

May have been mentioned, but in The Terminator when Reece has his dream in the car by the construction yard.
The ad playing on the radio was spoofing high quality new laserdiscs when he startled awake and cocked his shotgun before driving away.....

Just watched the blu ray with the cut scenes and was impressed with the extra content.
Thanks to James Cameron for that release.

Cheers to the membership !

That's weird and who's laserdisc is that? Is he in his office or is that at one of the trap houses? There's one recent episode on the trublu youtube channel where Predator the movie is playing in the background. These guys are crazy for doing that.

I don't know whether that counts that I was recently playing the brilliant Last of US Part II video game and in one of the flashback scenes the protoganist Eli has a conversation with Joel where they are talking about DVD and VHS collections that they might find along the way (watching films was one of the preferred pastimes in communities that had electricity) and Eli says that they might even find laserdiscs as she "has heard that that is a thing, too".
