In this music video of the Italian singer Max pezzali in minute 1:11 in the background there is a disc that seems to me a laser disc, do you think?

In the 2004 Cutey Honey live-action movie http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0409860/ they are doing karaoke from Laserdisc.

The discs can be seen during the karaoke on a table in the right background (52.03-52.35), followed by a close-up of the discs (52.39-52.41).
The next morning a Pioneer LD-Player can be seen in the rack under the TV (53.06-53.44).
I assume that it's a DVL-919 or DVL-H9.

That's the movie

Greetings

I watched the movie Ricochet with Denzel Washington a couple of weeks ago on LD and Denzel Washington said the following
thing in the movie after losing everything:

"I got it all, Blake, respect, money, power, home, family, foreign car, VCR, Laserdisc"

I find it really funny how he pronounced the word Laserdisc in the movie.

You can see it for yourself here (1h32m4s):

Now the funny thing is that in the German version of the movie it says:

"Ich hatte alles, Blake, Stellung, Geld, Macht, Haus, Familie, Auto, Videorekorder, Stereoanlage"

so they actually dubbed Laserdisc into "Stereoanlage" which simply means "stereo". I guess they wouldn't expect
German viewers to know what a Laserdisc is.

In season 2 of 'Community' Troy had gone through the wardrobe of Pierce (Chevy Chase) and is saying something like: "All I found was 'Emmanuelle' on LaserDisc. I couldn't watch it, but it sounded sexy:... La..ser..disc...

The series is worth checking out, btw!

Cheers,

sounds like the situation i was in six years ago or so... a good friend told me a local pawn shop
had a "Laserdisc player and like a couple hundred or more discs for like $100"
so we went over to have a look... for me to find that it actually was a pair of CED players;

-a late 70's/very early 80's SEARS branded model with woodgrain veneer all over,
and a 1984 RCA similar, if not identical to one featured here; http://www.cedmagic.com/misc/clear-top/clear-top.html -

- and like 300/400 CED discs for indeed $100.00 even.

a good deal for a CED enthusiast, and probably for any vintage video enthusiast in general,
but i just did not, -and to this day still don't- have the space for collecting another vintage video format.
LD and VHS are my personal favorites, and i've barely the space to accommodate them as is.

anyway, more recently, early last year in fact, the owner of a new hock shop
told me he had a bunch of "Laserdiscs"
just to walk me over to a few stacks of... -you guessed it- CEDs. i just had to mentally facepalm...

There's apparently a mention and slight showing of Laserdiscs in the new sitcom Brooklyn Nine Nine:

Yeah, my aunt got my hopes up one time when she told me this one thrift shop had stacks of Laserdiscs for sale for cheap.

Of course when I got there they were CED's of course!

There's another Sopranos mention - if I'm remembering it correctly another mobster is selling Tony some stolen DVD players and has to convince Tony that they're "like laserdiscs but better," unfortunately I can't remember exactly what was said.

A few years ago someone selling vinyl records in Portobello Road Market in London had a laserdisc as his sign - unfortunately he'd painted his business's name on it! Never did find out what the disc was, the label was painted over too.

And I've had a friend buy "laserdiscs" for me, only to find that they were actually CED - took me ages to find a buyer. And as I mentioned in another post, a laserdisc player turned up on ebay UK recently as a "Videodisc player" - I was expecting yet another CED player, instead it was an early Philips laserdisc player with a big stack of discs.
