I watched my copy of In & Out yesterday and when Kevin Kline shows up at his bachelor party, his friends pull out Funny Girl on Laserdisc for them all to watch.

Yes, I saw that commercial and I was like "FINALLY someone actually knows what LaserDiscs are!".

Laserdisc made a cool showing in the movie Airport 1977. On the plane the stewardess puts a disc on a player (built into the aircraft) for the passengers enjoyment.

I'm sure most of you know this but even though they are not actually seen laserdiscs are mentioned dozens of times throughout the film Free Enterprise?

You know, it's funny. LaserDisc I thought, had only rarely ever appeared in ads, TV and movies but you guys have listed a considerably amount. However, to this date I havn't seen a CED disc cameo in any movie I've watched. I'm afraid LaserDisc takes the limelight when it comes to VideoDisc apperances in movies. Have any of you seen any appearances of CED in movies and TV?

There was an SNL skit "Woody Allen Fanclub" on an episode hosted by Jason Alexander where the club had a contest where the prize was a Woody Allen movie on laserdisc, "letterboxed, of course" (I think that was the line, I can't find a transcript or video).

I wrote a few posts back that the film Starman had a laserdisc in it but the way it was played it could have been a CED. Later on I'll try to islolate the scene and post it.

I can't recall any. In fact the first time I ever came across a CED physically was at a trading post, when my brother and friend said that this place had a lot of movies on disc, but weren't sure if they were Laserdiscs. Before that, I had only seen 1 or 2 CED commercials back in the 80s (I knew they were CED commercials, because I recall a child shoving an entire caddy of some Disney title into a player-- I thought that was odd.)

In License to Kill, early in the Movie Felix Leiter is showing Bond all the information he has collected on the drug dealer. He puts a CD into a Sony Laserdisc player and then looks at the info on his PC.
I'll try to find where it is to get a shot.
Jurassic Park, the wire guided cars have laserdisc players built in. I don't remember if its clearly shown in the movie but Crichton describes them in the book.
In Rising Sun with Snipes and Connery, when they go to the High Tech Japanese security center in the high rise, they see a room full of 5" recorders - "we record all our surveillance on laserdisc". The disc they need is stolen. Connery then pulls the empty wrapper out of the waste basket. I need to go back and still frame that and see what the part number description was. The empty wrapper was the proof someone had stolen the disc and inserted a new one.

They did a similar gag on screen in an episode. I think Homer and Bart are walking through a unk yard, in the background you see spaces for dumping video formats; video, laserdisc...and an empty space for DVD saying "coming soon." It was something along those lines anyway.

I recently watched the Pineapple Express extra features and Judd Apatow very quickly talks about watching True Romance on laserdisc. Apatow definitely went up a couple of notches in my book.

In the St. Patrick's Day episode of 30 Rock from this past season, Dennis, Liz's ex-boyfriend who was a pager/beeper salesman all the way into the late 2000s reveals that his new business venture is to record people's DVDs on Laserdisc. Haha. He also has a brilliant plan to have a service like Netflix, only you go there in person and choose from a limited selection.

The shot is at 50:10. The player is a Philips VP415 LaserVision ROM drive. It's humorous that he carefully loads the disc upside down.
