Ever bought an LD on-line, that when you opened the package the LD was cracked? Happened to me two times. First was the Phantom Menace LD. Both discs were cracked, looked like someone tried to snap the discs in half with their hands. The second was, Stay Tuned. It looks like someone wacked it with a ball-peen hammer...

If the disc was sealed, that's on you. If it wasn't, that's on the seller.

How was the disc packed? If the seller isn’t using LP mailer type of packaging that deters flexing, it’s on the seller to be responsible in most cases.

Yes I received 2 over the years: Lion King, The (1994) [2977 AS] (shipped from France) and Prince: and the NPG: 3 Chains O' Gold (1994) [WPLR-5] (shipped from Japan).

On both those titles, I got my money back. I pointed out that the packaging and the cover was undamaged. The Ebay listing for Stay Tuned stated that the disc was tested so I can only guess how they got cracked...

Happened to me a couple times, too. First time I ordered a Mickey and Pluto disc, it was from Mercari. It was split on both sides. The second time I ordered from Yahoo! JP Auctions, it had a split crack on the blank side. The main side was unaffected and playable.

Still, highly NOT recommended to play a cracked disc...

I have seen cracked discs before but a while back, I almost played one. Got the disc, went to put it in the player, then at the last second decided to look at the B side before closing the door. I was looking to see if the B side was scratched but to my surprise, it was cracked. The A side was not cracked. Fortunately, I did not try playing the disc but I have probably played a lot of discs before without looking at the B side first. Now I always check both sides before ever playing the disc.
