So far I don't have any Japanese LDs but I do have a few Japanese LPs and can agree with what everyone has said about their packaging, it just seems to defy ageing.

Someone mentioned the Paramount slipcases being flimsy. I have the PAL release of the Indiana Jones Trilogy which comes in an excellent slipcase, both attractive and sturdy.

In the main I would say ''this being from my own experience''

I have found that the Japanese titles are by far better packaged and far more titles are in gatefold covers.

Also the loose wrap is better than the shrink wrap that the US used.

The Japanese attention to quality has always impressed myself very much.
