Since I last took screenshots I've updated my computer and it seems that DScaler, the program I used for capture, doesn't agree with Windows 8.1 so I've had to resort to the old camera phone pointed at the TV method for now. I hope this helps. To me the colours look somewhere between the 35mm and DVD.

The bluray appears to be like the original theatrical release (according to mercury77's previous post which said it doesn't have a green hue). I thought that was only available in the Australian DVD print? |

Laserdisc and DVD win, Bluray 1080p HD colour LMAO rubbish the brightness is boasted too high that ruins HD 1080p for bullsh"t cinema likeness, oh please really. Give me the LASERDISC.  I had to lower the ISO setting on the camera on manual setting to capture off the CRT the trains lights. The bluray as you can see is over-boasted waste of time playing bluray Matrix, plus the load up time is slow. Then its visual disappointment.  DVD region 2 BBFC cut version  DVD region 2 BBFC cut version  LASERDISC DOLBY AC-3  Bluray hopeless format. |

I don't understand why so many blurays are terrible. I mean, the format itself is significantly better than DVD and the movies shouldn't be shamed. I shouldn't have to go up to Sam Raimi with a tommy gun to get a decent transfer of Evil Dead 2. Or maybe I should bomb the studios haha. |

These studios are toying with us consumers to milk us all any way they can to squeeze our pockets dry.

But those captures are taken from a CRT. Who would ever watch a Blu-Ray on one of those?! I remember The Matrix looked okay on Blu-Ray when I saw it (four or five years ago), although it was somewhat soft. |

Please don't judge about Blu-ray format too soon; if you use it with a HD Projector it will be the only home theatre format which resolution only might make you happy. When the picture is so big (4-5 meters wide) you might find it very similar with cinema picture (detailed but not to sharp like on any HD TV nowdays). Also 3D in 5 meters wide (the whole wall) will really get you into the movie and you can adjust it yourself opposed to cinema. I read a lot of times about DNR and "digitized picture" and for me it's all bollocks because of the size: Blu-ray is just too "fat" Format for usual TV screen. It needs real size of a picture; then all other formats become irrelevant. I still love my LD's though and don't watch them in 5 meter screen - that's a ridiculous size for an LD picture no matter what. And now, 4K is knocking on our doors, prices are dropping rapidly. The thing I noticed over the years too - I don't need a giant screen to enjoy the film. It might even be very tiresome - try French Connection with it's unnecessary shaky held-cams. |

Thanks for those guys. It does indeed seem that the LD varies from the original DVD..hmmm. What surprised me was how different the film looked theatrically. It certainly didn't look like the BD which has both crush and boosting in addition to that horrid applied color. |
