Speaking of cover artwork, anyone ever given away framed Laserdiscs away as gifts to friends who don't have an LD player or collect LDs? I've done it several times and my friends loved them. Like my one friend, her favorite movie is Before Sunrise. So I bought an LD of the movie (which has a nice cover taken from the poster artwork) framed it and gave it to her for her B-day. Ecstatic she was! Of course the most ecstatic response for a similar gift was when I gave my Princess Bride fangirl of a friend of mine a framed LD of the Nelson Entertainment Release of the film. Of course it helped that I had it autographed by Chris Sarandon and Cary Elwes . . .

Wow! That David Carradine cover is epic
I also love this slightly altered take on the amazing poster art for Chinatown. Wondering if anyone on here might know who did the original poster art ?

I'm working on an exhibit for the "Moon Day" event (held on the Saturday closest to 20 July) next year at the Frontiers of Flight museum. We're going to have framed LPs & LDs, & the other organizer wants to set up to stream audio clips as well. It promises to be interesting!

and what about this one ? its 1000 times better than the international dvd cover, in my opinion. the creator obviously still had T2 in its mind. one of the most cherished discs in my collection, bought this one new about 10 years ago, shipped from japan...

I think Platoon is my favorite and really might just be the best example of why this is such a desirable format. For one thing, black and white stills always have such a powerful effect, and that photo really just couldn't be more perfect. The dog tags give the cover a very sentimental feeling and is probably the most personal thing a soldier could have, returning from a war zone. The lettering isn't brash or bold, very simple and understated. I love it. I haven't seen very many covers as I'm fairly new to it, still. Do you guys have any personal favorites?
