Japanese brochures, pamplets (LD side fetisch)

Maybe this doesn’t belong in the LD area of the forum but please feel free to move it if so. But since I collect them together with my lds its ld relevant, at least for me.

I have always find these pamplets (brochure) made for the movies awesome and beautiful. Maybe its because I love music tour programs as well. Anyway, I have ending up buying the brochures for which ld titles I own as well... I see them as the booklets that should have been included with the ld-release but never was.

Is it only me or does anyone else ending up buying any?

Also if anyone knows it would be cool to know exactly how these brochures where handed out, where they for customers in video stores, cinema visitors or just for retailers? Because they must have been a big expense to make these to hand them out for free. I also have some later ones for SW episode 1-2 and they are very expensive and high quality looking so they must have cost a s**t load of money.

My guess would have been that they are handed out on cinemas for paying customers but that’s just my guess, maybe someone here actually knows...

the program books or Japanese flyers charishi are nice to collect when the movie hits Japanese theaters

wish they did come with the LDs though :mrgreen:

I believe its even rare to find the 2 sided flyers for old movies, I actually only got one that was in another book. It was prob. more common to save the books then the flyers.

The related brochures are lovely to collect.
I do the same with music laserdiscs and matching tour programs which feature many unique pictures not available in any other format.

They make perfect companion pieces for any laserdisc collection so yes I'd say let's make a home for them here too!

Before they can own the video or LD had a lot of people collect these brochures.
I also was one of them.
