A 4 minute long disk with a series of adverts - it looks like it was for in store use. Are these kinds of things common? I wonder if the disk would have been provided with a screen and player setup to the shop? Attachment:

If you're looking to cash in do it before you or someone else posts the content. Certainly not looking to cash in, I just bought it and wondered whether there were likely to be more similar disks and how exactly they were used.

In this day and age you really should be looking to cash in, its pretty much a loss leader to go after LDs now. There were lots of "kiosk" discs made, most that I have seen were from the USA but not surprising to see them from other countries. I'm sure they would have also been used as something like ads between videos for those The Box discs when they had that channel on TV back in the day. signofzeta wrote: It was common to have ads on videos in stores in Japan and elsewhere…still is. LD was much much less popular for this purpose though. It could also have been a contest giveaway I suppose. It has a very retail looking cover made to appeal to…someone. The text on the back seems to imply it was for store owners, but as you say, quite a retail looking cover. The new TV commercial for Whitehorse 8 is Issei Ogata, a popular talent with his own one-man play, appears. I will play a lovable office worker who laughs off restructuring, pretends to be a master of love, and gets excited about a small promotion. In other words, each and every customer you see in your store is the main character. It will surely become a topic of discussion, saying, "Oh, it's about me." Complete recording of 5 short control commercials.rein-o wrote: In this day and age you really should be looking to cash in, its pretty much a loss leader to go after LDs now.
I'm very ok making a loss on old media! The discs only interest me when they have content that isn't available elsewhere, which very often seems to be the case (movies excluded of course). Even if someone has taken the time to upload it to YouTube the digital compression is often bad enough to make it barely watchable.

Used Laserdisc prices could drop to zero tomorrow and I wouldn't think any less of my collection. I bring it up since I can bring up whatever I choose. Thx for adding info to the OP first question. I think I gave more help but that's all good. There is a mute feature on the topics, you can block me if you need

Totally understand, I have some demo discs that I need or would like to upload but never did and I need the cash so I'll sell them first before any upload. But there are also films that have yet to be released on newer formats, so these demo discs aren't the only thing keeping LD on its last gasp.

Like that. What the hell is that?

It is multiple times the same 4 minutes or does the disc has to play back chapter 1 constantly on a pre-configured industrial player? Same contents on both sides? Any ref/cat number on the disc labels? Feel free to add it to the database! (with a "Kampai") Julien

(with a "Kampai") Julien It actually hasn't arrived yet - those are the auction pics, but I'll check it out properly when it gets here. What should I do for the title in this case? Should I use a translated version or the original? I submitted a few with the Japanese titles before but they say '<== TITLE PENDING VALIDATION' (obviously possible that I missed something obvious here )

You could tell a whole saga with that, ask Sega.
