Honeysuckle Rose [1043] ... this would have been a great movie soundtrack on Laserdisc. Terrible mastering job on this LD ... really disappointing ... it sounded great in the movie theater.

laserdisc_fan wrote: I love Brian Eno music but this disc is truly awful because of the strange footage and angle it is displayed at! Brian Eno: Thursday Afternoon (1984) [CSLM 792]I would disagree. Watch it late at night, with dim lights and a good bottle of wine. It's supposed to be a piece of ambient audio/video art and it does a good job, very hypnotizing in the right conditions Julien

hippiedalek wrote: Cover wise I dislike the ones that have have tiny pictures of the film poster on the massive covers, some examples: Wings of Desire (Der Himmel über Berlin) (1987) [ID6635OR]Queen: Live in Budapest (1986) [080 510-1]Highlander (1986) [ID6679HB]Content wise it always annoys me when a brilliant film is only available on LD in P&S. See the above mentioned Wings of Desire as an example; a great film with some unexpectedly good features such as a bilingual disc and dolby surround but P&S with in picture subtitles... god i hate those covers! there just the covers of the vhs versions with a dumb background!

nissling wrote: I would actually go right ahead and say The Golden Age Of Looney Tunes vol. 1. I'm aware of that it's something for collectors, but if you ask me, this box set is completely overrated. Looney Tunes has never been common here in Sweden though, when I was young they only showed stuff by Disney. As a big Looney Tunes fan I REALLY disagree with you here. That boxset was one of my favorites until those cartoons were restored on DVD (now I'm waiting to purchase the Blu-ray set). The LD set contained The Great Piggy Bank Robbery, my most favorite cartoon in the whole wide world!! As for my least favorite disc, I don't know that I have one but the most disappointing one for me was the two volumes of Betty Boop the Definitive Collection. The set were riddled with DNR, which smeared the ink lines around the cartoon characters whenever they moved quickly. A real mess to look at. If it weren't for the DNR the sets would have been perfect! However, since there has never been an official release of these cartoons on DVD I'll keep the flawed laserdiscs for now.

For me being a DiscoVision collector, Frenzy. Especially that pesky side 5. Oh, I hated that side so much! Just as the movie was getting to the climax, BAM, Picture Stop on every frame.

The otherwise nearly useless Picture Stop Cancel mode on certain players (on the CLD-D704, hold down the front-panel Play/Still button until PSC ON appears on the on-screen display) really comes into its own here.
