Yes both were. Liar Liar can be purchased very reasonably ... Frighteners is more expensive.

The link listed on my first post, contains a very detailed website for Universal Signature collection LD(s).
Hard to believe that the site is sill up after all these years. :o

This series was continued into the DVD era, but they were called the Collector's Edition.

I have a few:

US titles:
12 Monkeys
American Graffiti
Blues Brothers, The
Daylight
Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story
Dragonheart
Mummy, The
Patch Adams
Psycho (new version)

Japan:
Out of Sight
Tremors/Tremors 2: Aftershocks
Vertigo
Jaws
E.T.

This is interesting though, the Japanese releases of the Universal Signature Collection are branded on the spine as not Signature Collection , but 'Special Collection'. They also have 'Special Collection' at the top of the front cover with 'Signature Collection' written smaller at the bottom of the cover.

For Example:
Thing, The (1982) [PILF-2717]

These two at present don't appear in the LDDB.com list of Signature Collection titles but should do.
Jaws: Special Collection (1975) [PILF-2306]
E.T.: Special Collection (1982) [PILF-2480]

I have a feeling that this one is too, but I don't own it so I can't confirm:
Patch Adams (1998) [PILF-2777]

These were not printed with the Universal 'Special Collection/Signature Edition packaging in Japan but have similar special features as the US Signature Edition release:
Mummy, The (1999) [PILF-2800]
Liar Liar (1997) [PILF-2544]

I have a few of them,
1941, ET, Dante's Peak, Jaws (cav), Street Fighter, The Thing, Liar Liar, Tremors, Dragon, Out of Sight, Scarface

Frighteners, Fried Green Tomatoes & The Last Starfighter are too pricey for me

Me too. I think the most I ever paid for a Universal Signature collection LD was $17 for the original Psycho in 2008. Watched someone buy it for significantly less a couple of weeks latter  . I've learned to be patient.
