Babylon 5 #1.1: The Gathering (TV Pilot) (1993) [15647] Original broadcast aspect ratio. Later DVD releases are widescreen but CGI segments are cropped.

That applies to all Babylon 5 LDs. Those LDs are fullscreen while the DVDs are widescreen with cropped CGI.

Here's also a List of exclusive Versions:
http://bitcrush.io/laserwiki/index.php? ... Exclusives

It contains quite a few other titles. Unfortnately it mostly lacks the reference numbers.

Proyecto A-Ko is a 16mm film so the process if im not wrong is like this;...16mm roll telecined to TypeC analog magnétic tape or D2 digital (no compression) tape, and these two used as a masters for creating the LD/VHS releases.
For DVD editions the masters used in that time were D1 digital component tapes, D5, ,DigiBeta....maybe some low quality DVD editions (by DVD standards) were made using Betacam SP tapes

The Laserdisc's listed here in this thread are of films that contain deleted, extended, and alternate shots and scenes integrated back into the film that have currently never been digitally released on DVD, Blu-ray, online streaming etc.

Trying to unravel the discussion here, apologies being late to the party.

What's the story with Project A-KO? Is this the same OAV I.would have remembered Manga Video releasing?

What is the best version.available of it?

Laserdisc, I believe its the CAV box set that has the best PQ but its all Japanese.

But the DVD uses the LD straight, I had it and even wrote to them to say they are scammers to release something with LD drop outs and all.

Until i read this, I thought i was crazy... The other day, this DVD player i bought on ebay arrived, i randomly grabbed a DVD off the bookcase to make sure it worked. I put the DVD in and it played. Except then i thought i noticed what was LD dropout artifacts. They had that horizontal slow sliding appearance. It didn't look like film damage/scratches. I was like "no, they wouldn't use an LD to master a DVD, would they?".

It was one of the first DVDs i ever owned, my friend bought it for my kids back in the late 90s, it was the first DVD release of "Army of Darkenss".

Fatal Attraction Director's Series on LD referenced on page 1 is not the "longest cut". The longer running time listed in the jacket incorporates the alternate ending special feature and Adrian Lyne spot. The running time of the actual film is identical to the DVD and Blu-Ray.

I believe the following are LD exclusive:

Merlin and the Sword
Merlin and the Sword (1985) [GHLV 9267]

The Wizard of Speed and Time
Wizard of Speed and Time, The (1989) [ID7209SG]
Mike the Wizard (The Wizard of Speed and Time) (1989) [KYLY-59004]

I have 3 copies of Merlin and the Sword. Terrible laser rot on all 3. Trying to make a clean master from a composite of the lot but haven’t cracked it yet.

I know they are trying to get Wizard of Speed and Time on Blu-ray. Mike owns the movie totally, I think. We’ll have it eventually.

If they include the actual original short film, I'd buy it just for that.

I’d hope it would be an amazing disc, given the untold mountains of film that guy possesses. I’d love to see that but also I’d love to have a small pleeb compatible disc to loan out.

I think I actually just picked this up on DVD last month and it was horrible PQ, looked like part was from the LD and part from a really
bad workprint or VHS.

Apparently Showgirls (1995) [L105] is the only one that has the film in Pan & Scan/Open Matte format.

P&S and open matte are totally different things so I would verify that elsewhere. Open matte is incorrect but occasionally useful, P&S is useless garbage.

Unfortunately the database is full of discs where this is not properly indicated. We still don't have proper labels for full frame versions of Super 35 films, do we?

Working up to 12 hours every day, I rarely find the time. Maybe admin can hand the maintenance of this list to someone who can properly attend to it? Any interest?

Nobody wanted to take over. I might have some free time later this month. I will update the list as some of the titles aren’t significant on LD anymore.

The Dutch version of License to Kill was the only uncut release of this movie till the Ultimate Edition DVD / BD release. Still think it is significant:

"Open Matte" exists since the beginning and "Super 35" was added later as well!

Wouldn't "Super 35 @ 1.33:1" serve that purpose?
