The center labels which are glued on A and B side.
Did glue dry at anytime and the label came off the disc?
Did this happen to anyone?

I haven't exeperianced this possible issue yet but this came to my mind because some discs are affected by laser rot I would assume after so many years the glue might dry and the labels peel off?
Could this happen or not?

Disc can't be played with labels missing?

I've only had I think one disc where they came off, but then again it may have been a dream from reading other topics.
It could happen, you can play without but just get some glue and glue it back on.

Happened to me once on my copy of Midnight Run. Somehow damaged the player’s pickup.

I was thinking if labels came off maybe grip ring couldn't hold the disc in place and the disc would spin all the time?
To avoid touching center labels I should put fingers in center hole to remove disc from jacket or use soft cotton gloves not to leave grease or fingerprints on the disc?

As with the others above, it only happened to me the one time. Can’t recall atm which disc it was, but likely a PAL LD as the player involved was a CLD-925 which is only used for such discs and the label had fell clear of the tray but was easily retrievable with a pair of tweezers so fortunately no damage done. Stuck mine back in place with Pritt Stick and it seemed to successfully hold it without wetting it at all, tbh I wouldn’t worry about this happening too much as it seems to be a rare occurrence.

Glue from pritt stick is it strong enough to hold the label in place?
If you press and pull sideways with your fingers you could slide it and smear the label around.

I have noticed some some of my discs being bubbly with air pockets under the label perhaps glue had dried?

Yes surprisingly its held very well to date as I’ve located the LD in question (Eurythmics Live in Sydney) and its actually the US release so must’ve been my former CLD-R7G that it came off inside, thus indicating that it’s around 4+ years. Its also just possible that the previous owner(s) of your discs may have used a wet cleaning method and got the labels wet? Of course though it equally could be just an age thing but I wouldn’t be worrying to much about them coming adrift, just check them for security periodically before playing them.

Just a suggestion, how about trying some surface mount spray? 3M do a decent one.

Dude, calm down. It’s just a movie, not a friggn Gutenberg Bible. You can put as many fingerprints as you want on the disc and it will play fine. Your precious bodily fluids won’t make the disc rot or the label fall off.

You should always hold the disc by the edge or the hole or both. That’s common knowledge. “Don’t touch the information” is the axiom for all media discs.

Labels sometimes come off. It’s extremely rare though, I’d say more rare than rot. They play fine without a sticker though. Please never think of this again.

Got to experience this myself last night. Thankfully the label didn't fall inside the player.

I'm not someone who thinks that everything made in Japan is automatically the best, but I've had 1000+ Japanese discs in my collection and only a handful of US LDs, and of course it happens on the latter...

It happened with my US copy of Land Before Time and I’m pretty sure someone else here had another copy with the same issue so IMO, at least with that disc, the issue is with the manufacturer and not the users. I have 600++ LDs, spinning since 1992, and have only seen this one disc with the issue. I’m more concerned with a shark attack than I am with my LD labels falling off.

Yeah I was thinking the same shing before I read this post.

Gloves for LDs?! C'mon! It was meant to be a consumer product and was never expected to be treated like a rare artefact.

Absolutely right SOZ.

However, on another point of yours, if I had to morally and politically approve every artist on my shelf, to make sure they aligned exactly with my politics and my morals, I would have about 2 CDs and 4 LDs instead of the 1000+ CDs and 800+ LDs I currently do have and enjoy.

Good music is good music and I don't think you should shame Noogieman into not enjoying his choice in Rock n Roll because of your moral judgements, or even moral facts.

Michael Jackson is a good example. I'm not going to excise Jackson 5 from my CD collection because MJ probably was a paedophile. It was good music, doesn't mean I condone paedophillia. I'm not taking out my Kanye West CDs either..it's good music.
