AnimEigo actually ran pre-order drives, for example for Kimagure Orange Road. As I understand it, there was one for Otaku no Video, but that title never "made it".

There's an entry in the DB for the Bubblegum Crisis/Crash/AD Police: Universe Set. It'd go great next to the KOR box :-)

Never released?

Yeah, complete seasons 2, 3 and 4 from B5. But I'm not annoyed about that.....much.

So some of the last discs, like "End Of Days" and "Bringing Out The Dead/Sleepy Hollow" had only about 400 pressed

Could you add that info to the database for each title ?
I own all 3 of them... didn't thought there was so few pressed.

All of the titles from 1998 & 1999 were pressed in such low numbers. It's nearly impossible to find copies of the Universal titles from that period (at a reasonable price).

To go on to what was being said about pressing costs, Pioneer had taken over distribution for Universal by the time the Signature Collection edition of "The Frighteners" came out. The retail selling price was $49.99. 8 sides at $9 each is already $72 plus the cost of packaging. Pioneer LOST money on every single copy sold. I had contacts within LDC America at the time and they were interested in doing a re-pressing, but the cost of the set was going to have to be doubled to $99.99 for them to release it again.

Night of the comet - Guy lost the master. Though I have heard the DVD version sucks. Always loved that movie. The Lord of the Rings and the Return of the King cartoons - Where there's a whip, there is a way!

There are a handful of "CBS/Fox" titles that never managed to make it to LaserDisc...

Caveman
Damnation Alley (was available in the UK)
The Pirate Movie (was available in the UK)
The Man with One Red Shoe
Johnny Dangerously
My Bodyguard
Visiting Hours (was available in the UK)
Zorro, the Gay Blade (was available in the UK)
Kiss Me Goodbye

The DVD of Night Of The Comet is a nice anamorphic transfer with clean Dolby Stereo. There's nothing wrong with it and it trumps the LD with no NTSC artifacts, much greater color resolution and full vertical bandwidth. It's just a shame it took so long to get released on DVD. The LD I had, from Hong Kong, looked like it was made from a low-band U-Matic master, as many foreign LD's often did, especially Japanese.
