Fight Club side 1 and 2 both went over 60 min. apiece. It blew my friend and I's minds when we saw it. Alien CLV AC-3 THX remaster gets fairly close to 60 minutes a side if I remember correctly.....

Gentlemen, I think we have a new champion. Disc 1 of Star Trek: The Pilots [PLTES 34071] features the whole of The Cage on one side, the total running time coming in at 63:55!

Side two contains Where No Man Has Gone Before but that only comes in at 48:33.

I have just submitted this to the Database.
I now got a Philips Imax Flyers demonstration LD. It's in CAV at 32 mins long, and comes up on my player conter with 45764 frames. That's the longest CAV I now have. The disc was manufactured by Distronics and the only markings are W.O # 1084-22

Interesting the whole movie is on the one side. Whereas the Lumivision Flyers (cav) which is 34mins has the last chapter on side 2
Here are some pics to see. The jacket is a bit rough with spit seam, but you have to take them as they come.

The back jacket talks the CDV format, and it also has a fold open insert, explaining the how some of the stunts were done, and the Imax setup mounted on the plane for filiming.

I was wondering this last night, when I was watching:

Spandau Ballet: The Video Collection (1981) [WV038-3024]

Total time: 60'02"... nothing instead of about 63' (!!!!) of that Star Trek side!

The Star Trek one is a PAL disc, I think in theory they can run to about 65 mins per side. Considering cessnaace's quote I think your Spandau Ballet disc must be NTSC winner.

I think that Flyer's disc has got to be the longest I've ever found. The frame count comes out to 31:46.

I just ran across a Technidisc pressed CAV disc that runs 54331 frames for 30:16. I think I read somewhere that CAV actually had a capacity of 32 minutes, but was rarely used due to playback issues.

Watching my Japanese Import of Showgirls today and noticed that Side A is 60:01. There's about a 1:45 of logos before the actual film starts. Still pretty impressive.

Technidisc does it again! The Technidisc pressing of "Silver Streak" [1080-80] has a side B that runs an astounding 60:07. Of course, it didn't have to run past 59:15 - the LaserVision Side 2 bumper runs nearly a full minute.

I've just picked up Yes: Union Tour Live (1991) [VPLR-70690], and side 2 clocks in at an amazing 60:20!

The longest one that I have encountered in my personal collection is the Criterion Edition of Boyz N The Hood which is a fantastic release btw. ( Great movie, great stereo audio, great picture quality )

Both sides are at least 60:20 minutes each ! and there are still some extras at the end of each side.

Don't think it's the longest side winner by any means but all the sides of the rather nice UK 2 disc box set of DUNE on LDD 1009 are over the 30 minute mark with PAL/SECAM CAV in fairly large letters on the bottom left of the front cover.

Side 1: frames 48565 - running time 32.22

Side 2: frames 54911 - running time 36.36

Side 3: frames 53825 - running time 35.53

Side 4: frames 43925 - running time 29.17

So the longest side here is 36 minutes & 36 seconds in CAV on the PAL format.

Cheers

They don't make 'em like this anymore

PAL CAV is 36 minutes. But NTSC CAV is just 30 minutes. Its all to do with different frame rates. PAL 25 frames vs. NTSC 29.97 frames per second.

Side A of the UK PAL release of Hard Boiled is apparently 63:43 in length!

Hard Boiled (1992) (Uncut) [EE 1015]

Wow that title is coming in tight second close to my SNEAKERS. I wonder if there is a title clocking in at 64mins?

Sneakers (1992) [PLFEB 31821]

Hopefully my PAL pressing of SNEAKERS clocks in the highest at side 2, 63m.54s.

Sneakers (1992) [41431]

I guess the USA pressing with the two sides split at CLV and CAV won't clocking higher than the PAL unless someone here can confirm?

Probably been said before but there was CAA70 format for anything over 64 minutes long and CAA75 which is upto 75 minutes long but I don't think it was ever used.

^ okay but does my SNEAKERS win. the laser must be within mm of the outer rim edge of disc when its getting close onto 64m.54s.

I have to check though my collection to see what other PAL titles I have at 120 to 125mins.

Alive/Alive: 20 Years Later (1993) [PLFEC 31731]

ALIVE side 1 clocked in at around 63m.10s with slow fade to black 64m.11s and auto switching over to side B that doesn't clock in highest as side 1.
