Hi signofzeta,

Thanks, I suppose I have my moments from time to time. In case you didn't know, I can be pretty passionate about this format. If you don't believe me, just take a look at my collection listing and About Me page :!: To answer your previous question, no, I don't have Light of Day, believe it or not :o . So far, I have never encountered a Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, or Chinese release of this title. I have no idea if it was released anywhere in that part of the world, but if it was, I have yet to see it. You can believe that if a copy of such a release ever surfaces, I will try my best to acquire it. I have always thought that I would like to have this title in my collection. I have had numerous opportunities to get a copy of the U.S. release that you have over the years, but I just haven't jumped on it. There always seems to be something else that I want more, and it's not the type of piece that I'm willing to give serious money for. Someday, when I see it for a cheap price, and I have nothing more interesting that I'm looking at, I will get it.

Best Regards,
David

Just wondering, have you ever come across any Halcyon discs? When a story like yours, I don't see how you couldn't have.

Hi tpgb12,

No, oddly enough, I can say in all honesty that I have never seen any of them. I have heard of them before, but have never personally seen any. As far as I know, I have never had an opportunity to acquire any of them from anyone I have dealt with. They certainly would be of interest to me, though, if I should ever encounter them at some point in the future.

Best Regards,
David

Does it cost serious money? It doesn't seem like anything special. I've never even watched it.

Hi Again signofzeta,

I think that have seen Light of Day sell for a fairly high price in the past from time to time. I can't recall exactly how much. I am absolutely sure that I have seen a number of people list it for sale who wanted a lot for it. Whether any of them got or not, I have no idea. Perhaps they did from some rabid fan of Joan Jett or Michael J. Fox. It's hard to say, as I didn't care about it enough to go back later and research if one of them sold and for how much. It's just a piece that I wouldn't mind having in my collection, but not for crazy  money though. I saw the movie years ago on cable when it was relatively new, and don't recall it being like you said "anything special". To be perfectly honest, I don't remember much about it at all, after all these many years.

David :)

I'm resurrecting this thread as it is a little fun to see what people got. Maybe someone have aquired some more "unique" titles since last time this thread was active? I'll chip in with the titles I got, though mostly cartoons and one VHD:

Around 50 or so with almost all F1 or motorsport titles.

Am I the only person here with an interest in the F1/motorsport LDs?

The F1 discs that I have that are declared in other collections are few in number & only 2 or 3 of each title at most owned by others.

I would rather not have them as "unique" titles, there must surely be others in collections out there.

Interesting thread, thanks for bringing it back up

All About Ah Long (1989) [A067]
And
Young And Dangerous 2 (1996) [ML 618]
My only two unique titles. I've been building my collection of Hong Kong titles lately, so I'm not surprised both of my unique titles are from HK. Everything else I own is fairly unremarkable :D

As per hippiedalek none!

Twice I had it happen that after adding new titles I had a single one popup as unique. The next day I checked and this no longer happened. I don't even recall the first, the second was an INXS title. The very fact they already existed on the database makes me think this was a glitch rather than reality :-)

Perhaps to help determine the relative rarity of various titles it should be possible within the database to view for each title how many exist within collections?

i've got a small handful of rather uncommon discs, such as -

"U-JIN BRAND" ID2869CT
"THE EVE; BINGO MIKI and INNER GALAXY ORCHESTRA" MJ001-22KT

and a Chinese Karaoke disc;

"FITTO KARAOKE 6" http://www.lddb.com/search.php?search=F ... &format=ld

- i've also got the mid-80's MGM/UA LD edition of the forgotten 1984 film -

"ELECTRIC DREAMS" ML100487

- don't know how "Unique" it might actually qualify to be, but in any case in LD form it is indeed R.A.R.E.

Not one single unique title in my collection  :problem:

Makes me wonder...
Then again, I like them and that's what it's all about IMHO

I only have 2 Laserdiscs that are unique. But apparently a bunch of CEDs. Yay...

I have 35 unique titles in my collection. But actually I have more. I still have around 30-40 titles from Indonesia and South Korea as well as some German demo discs
that I need to submit to the database.

I have one MUSE title that is unique in my collection: Hi-Vision Art Library: Sekiguchi (1993) [VALJ-3903]

That is the most precious title in my collection.

I also have some Japanese HD DVD discs ( Apollo 13, Twilight Samurai ! ) that are unique in my collection. All of the Japanese discs were pressed
in Japan ( the IFPI code on the discs clearly proves this ) and they still work 100% unlike many "foreign" pressings from Warner USA etc.

Among my regular LD titles I particularily like Hamburger Hill ( Japan , excellent sound quality ), the LD COM discs from Pioneer, and some French movies
released in Japan only such as Stavisky, as well as numerous Indonesian and South Korean discs.

Mine all seem to be classical music

Gluck: Orfeo Ed Euridice: Royal Opera House (1991) [PILC-1138]
New Year Concert 1992: Kleiber (1992) [070 152-1]
Stravinsky: Pucinelle/Soldat: Rambert Dance Companie [9031-74249-6]
Tchaikovsky: Swan Lake: Kirov Ballet (1991) [9031-73829-6]

Not incredibly exciting, I'm afraid. I did have a couple of others, I think, but someone else must have them now.

Drunken Master II Part 2 (1994) [ML 445]
This one is the second half of a movie that was released in two single-sided installments for some reason.
Jungle Emperor: Animation Symphonic [COLC-3009]
Turn A Gundam: vol.06 [BELL-1488]

Not bad for a collection of only 63 so far!

Yeh johan184 same here, I have about 50ish LDs that NO ONE else has an interest in or wants. Me though, I am more than happy to have them & have no inclination to trade or sell them.

Enjoy your "uniques" .
