So the Video Essential LD's contrast pattern only works for CRT and because of that there seems to be no LD with contrast patterns that work for digital displays. Most people seem to suggest just eyeballing that setting, but does anybody have any more accurate methods? (Currently I just use my BD player's contrast setting)

EDIT: When I say "contrast," I mean the control on TVs called "contrast"

Hello naiaru,

I am glad that you raised this issue because, when I finally purchase my first projector I will need to setup my laserdisc's best picture settings.

So please is there anyone here that can help Naiaro and myself, with reference getting the best out of our Laserdisc's viewing on a Digital display screens, or a projector either: D-ILA, LCD, SXRD, LCOS or DLP types.

I am looking at either a: D-ILA or an LCD Projector, otherwise The Digital screen that I have is a Pioneer Plasma KURO PDP 6090. so the ideal LD settings for this would be much appreciated.

Thank you in advance of any replies.

 :)

The Japanese players (X9, S9, R7G) have a D-EXT feature that amazingly deals with the contrast issue. Otherwise eyeballing it is all you can do. You could also consider adjusting the internal black level on the display. On an LCD, that's not a good option, on a plasma set it may help you.
