Most of the later era PAL players cannot playback the old analog titles. Yes in that respect it offers good backward compatibility for someone who has both old and new LDs, not to mention 5", 8" and 12" discs. The same is true of the CLD-925 of course - the only thing missing being DVD playback in the 925. Although I think the DVL-909 or 919 look much better than the 925 and are better build quality I personally prefer the 925 for day to day use. The jog & shuttle is really hard to survive without if you collect music titles and the remote is more traditional style rather than trying to be jack of all trades and master of none as shipped with the DVL machines. I have eight 925 and five DVL (909 or 919) machines in my fleet so like them both! The champagne gold coloured European or Japanese DVL models actually don't look out of place even beside an HLD-X9, although you appreciate the difference when you get up close or go to lift the HLD-X9 and realise you immediately want to set it down.

blam1 wrote: I totally agree with what you said about the remotes on the DVL-919E. However, the remote on the Japanese DVL-919 does have the shuttle & jog control. I haven't tried it on the 919E. Humm.... I've read somewhere that the Japanese remote works fine for the US DVL 919, would be interesting to know if it did work for the 919E too.

substance wrote: If I obtain a player, I will transfer them for you. What titles are these? Thanks Substance for the offer. Two of them we're transferred by another, which are old analog compilations (Videotheque & Videohits). The other is Rita Mitsouko, which has a digital track. I would like to record all three again in 8 bit PAL lossless, along with the audio tracks with a good ADC or in the case of the digital track, as is as closely as possible thru the digital coaxial bypass on my ADC. I have the all the equipment necessary other than a PAL player. If I could only loan one for the transfer. LOL Elvis

I have 111 PaL titles in my collection. I find they look a little better sometimes on my set up even tho they are time compressed alot of the time. My collection do far can be found at http://goo.gl/SnBL9BI live in the UK and have the Pioneer CLD 2950. A great player with film like picture quality and when run through a filter I have it gives off Blu ray 1080p with fantastic results within the picture.

I own 11 PAL discs in my collection. I am located in Argentina (Not a typical LD coutry... hahaha.. but I could say NTSC) I have 1 PAL player only; but it's really a LowFi one; doesn't play CAV, doesn't play Analogue tracks... I just keep looking for another one; but I can't import this kind of things due Argentinian policy..

I have no PAL discs or players and no plans to get any. The only PAL LDs I can think of I'd ever want would be the CDVs for Doctorin' the Tardis and True Faith, but they only contain videos easily obtained elsewhere and they've probably rotted as well. If I were into hoarding dozens of varients maybe I'd care, but I mainly collect classics and anime (usually one version, no redundant editions) and since Europe didn't have Criterion or Bandai Visual...PAL is pretty much a wasteland. How many versions of Speed and MIB can a person actually use?

... The True Faith cdv i've got hasn't rotten yet; though it has lots of chroma noise. I paid 70€ for it. It can go for more ridiculous prices. You will find the clip also on the ntsc [ POLD-1011] i by the way also got. That one has also 2 true faith versions. The blue monday cdv i've also got has audio gone totally bad. I've got 38 Pal discs and 1 Pal+ disc. (12, 8 and 5" together) Some of them are good Pal ones, like French ones like from Jean Michel Jarre and Mylene Farmer. Many other Pal ones i would like to get the 'original' NTSC equivalent from. Some bad Pal ones even don't have any ntsc equivalent. Many of the 5" cdv's the same story . I've got Pioneer CLD D925 CLD D515 ld players and a Philips CDV 185 CD/CDV-only Pal-only player.

I want to buy external PAL TeleText (VideoText, TeleVideo) decoder with Remote. Unit like NEC VX-101A or NEC TX-101NZ etc. Needed is PAL unit with RCA - composite (or S-Video or SCART) in and out. Can be also universal PAL/SECAM/NTSC external unit from 90ties. Japanese NTSC units (NEC TX-1500; Fuijtsu-General TX-20/TX21) and US NABTS units (Panasonic TU-1000X) are not capable to decode PAL or WTS format. Also I can't use special units paired with TV tuner or TV set (using TV remote) like: Sony TXT-100G; Grunding VT1000; JVC VU-V140E/V150E etc. Thank you beforehand
