I picked up a little bookshelf a while back with display stands and it turned out to all be perfect laserdisc size. Can't believe how fast it has filled up though!

Do you use outer plastic/vinyl sleeve/bags? I am doing so but it's impossible to find the right size for box sets, and I like the way the art looks without the bags (and it makes the discs easier to get at). Wonder if there would be issues storing them on the shelves without outer plastic...

I only have outer sleeves for the ones that came that way, which is The Jungle Book, the Star Wars Trilogy discs, and The Lost World: Jurassic Park.

Right now they're on a shelf with the wall on one side and a Power Mac G4 Cube on the other to keep them vertical. But I only have a little over 20 films.

I buy poly outer sleeves in bulk because I also have a lot of LPs. I keep my LDs in the same LP bin as my records. It filled up quick since I started collecting LDs.

I'm not affiliated with the manufacturer. There are plans to build one of these yourself on one of the audiophile sites if you want to save some money.

If I don't get rid of the PP sleeves, still undecided, I think I'll buy sleeves in bulk like you. New ones probably look a lot better than some of the 20 year old ones these are wrapped in. I have to wash my hands after handling a few.

I just rearranged that top shelf a bit because I realized that the Fantasia box set would fit with the others now. It's a bit large.

Currently I'm using "garage shelves" to store my discs. Not pretty at all, but does the job. Got the shelves really cheap from the local prison where it were made, hehe. Probably will soon buy the IKEA shelves mentioned above, will look a lot better.

Not a bad idea with a display stand, though! I do collect also for the sake of the artwork on the cover jackets. They will outlive the player, and some of them are just really cool to look at. Have seen a couple of people decorate their walls with LP covers, why not do the same with laserdiscs in the future?

Most of my discs does not have any outer protection, but will buy a bulk pack with that one day. Don't pull out movies that often, so not really afraid of wear and tear.

I have a couple of old cupboards with adjustable shelving, originally designed for lab use, and most of mine are in them. At the moment the rest are in a big box made of sturdy card which I think was designed for holding LPs. None of it very pretty, but the shelves are sturdy enough that they don't sag at all, which makes them perfect for discs.

Does the Vectex machine still work? I was working for a computer dealer around the time they were on sale, we never sold them ourselves (since we specialied in refurbished business PCs) but heard horror stories from shops that did, something like a forty percent failure rate inside the warranty period. But I suppose that if they didn't fail within that time they just kept going.

My father and I built a handful of custom cabinets to store my discs in. In all we built 6 of them, two shelves high, 16" wide, 14" deep. One other cabinet we built was 3 shelves high, but we made it 23" wide with an open back top shelf to put an old 2nd generation LD player in (A Sylvania VP-7200). Together they hold around 1100 discs. Then I found some bookshelves from Costco that were perfect. Double wide shelves, 4' across and 6' tall and shockingly - 12.5" deep. I purchased two of those. The following year, Costco upgraded the bookshelves to 7' tall. Two more found their way home. That brings my shelving capacity to around 4300.

Too bad I've got nearly 4800 titles, and a bunch of them box sets. I've probably got closed to 1500 titles on the floor in my dining room.

Yes, it works just fine! I probably overpaid for it, as I got it from eBay. The condition were a bit more rough than stated. It has the common issue with buzzing sound in the speaker. That is a design-flaw and can't really be fixed. I had to open the controller as the down-movement didn't work. Turned out to be a wire that had come off the PCB inside. Someone had already tried to open it by using a flat-head screwdriver to pry it open. A lot of ugly tool-marks and missing plastic pieces around the edges. The screws are hidden under the label on top, and since it were already damaged, I just cut out holes for the screws. Didn't bother with a hot-air gun and try to peel it off without damage. It is also very common that the return-springs for the joystick break, mine are still intact.

It is Metal Slug, but if you look closer you can see the cover is different. They're custom clamshell covers for MVS cartridges. The AES version is just extremely expensive, probably a couple of thousand dollars, while the MVS cost me like 30.

Everyone with their cool setups. I don't remember offhand a specific name, but I use these little fabric storage cubes from Target. They are perfect for LPs and LDs. Everything fits nice and snug and I don't have to worry about the discs lying on their side.

Here's my setup that stores almost all of my LDs. It's messy as hell, but whatever. :P

what's on the label of the Japanese-market memory cart in your U.S. SEGA SATURN there?

i have a U.S. SATURN myself, had mine since new around '95 or so,
and have, in more recent years, been building up a growing library of JPN titles,
using an INTERACT "GAME SHARK" as the regional-lockout pass-through.

i should just get around to getting an actual JPN SATURN,though, as they are probably affordable enough these days...

That's an Action Replay Plus 4M. It also removes the region lock, so you can play imported games. Doesn't enable you to play copied games, though. Very easy to obtain, even brand new in the box. A must have for a Saturn. :) Basically the same thing as your Game Shark, which is called Action Replay outside the US.
